Adam Fischer doesn’t believe in second chances. Heartbroken after his lover Charlie leaves him to chase his music career in L.A., Adam is convinced that meaningless one-night-stands are all life has in store for him.

Until fate drops Penn Shields in his lap.

Penn is a young, talented designer fresh out of college who has just landed his dream job as a wardrobe assistant in Queen Victoria theatre, where Adam is performing in a popular musical.

He’s also Charlie’s brother.

The last thing Penn wants is to follow in his brother’s footsteps, especially since they haven’t spoken in years. However, the attraction he feels for Adam grows with each day, and soon resisting it proves to be futile.

As Adam and Penn get to know each other intimately, they both realise that first impressions may be deceiving, and that, sometimes, second chances come in the same packaging.

Caroline’s View:

What a great follow up to Dance! To anyone unfamiliar with this series you could get away with reading this as a standalone but I think you would truly miss some of the depth of the story. Go read Dance first!

Adam Fischer watched as Charlie, the love of his life, walked out the door to pursue his singing career without ever looking back. A relationship that had meant everything to Adam clearly never meant anything to his lover, he was in fact just another secret in the closed of life of his ex lover. Looking to his future Adam has his work, his best friend and a host of one night stands to look forward to.

He gets the shock of his life when a young man named Penn turns up to start his new job at the theatre and is the absolute double of Charlie. How could he not of known his ex had a twin brother, just looking at Penn brings back all the memories and sadness of his previous unsuccessful relationship.

Penn hasn’t spoken to his twin very much for years. Charlie was always secretive and not very friendly. Penn is the complete opposite with a much happier and outgoing disposition. He has just landed his dream job in the costume department at the theatre and is keen to jump in and make a good impression. Penn is as surprised to find out who Adam is as Adam was to find out who he was….awkward!

Adam is attracted to Penn but there is a constant niggle in the back of his mind that maybe he is just seeing Charlie all over again. Penn is equally attracted but the same niggle applies. The two men do try to steer clear of each other initially but it is quickly obvious that is not going to happen. The more Adam learns about Penn and the more time they spend together it becomes clear the twins are nothing alike and it doesn’t take long before Adam is falling for Penn’s personality and seeing him as a totally separate person. When Adam first kisses the other man it is definitely Penn he is kissing and not Charlie and he quickly becomes addicted.

The two men form a close friendship which slowly becomes more intimate. Things work well for a time, they both enjoy the time they spend together, they help each other out with things for work but Adam is a bit of worrier with a tendency to see the bleak in things. After a vicious attack leaves Adam incapacitated things slowly start to change and when he doesn’t renew his contract with the theatre and decides to try something new he is hit with a depression and it leaves him in dark place where Penn is unable to reach him.

Penn has fallen deeply in love with Adam but can’t infiltrate the mask he wears. Delivering an ultimatum is a dangerous step to take but it is the last resort to get all of the man he loves.

I have a sneaking suspicion this is not the last we have seen of this series 
