Damon can’t forget 9/11 and all the precious things he lost…
It’s ten years after the horror of 9/11. Former NYPD cop Damon Summerfield was there. He lost his firefighter partner, Justin, in the collapse of the Twin Towers and fled to Canada to attempt to rebuild his shattered life. Now he is back in New York for Christmas with his family for the first time since his loss.
Still deep in mourning with no end in sight, he visits Justin’s favorite bar near Ground Zero and there meets Simon, a firefighter with the FDNY and a fellow survivor of 9/11. Simon is smitten by him from the start, but despite feeling the same way, Damon can’t bear to give them a chance, not when he thinks Simon’s job will tear them apart someday too…
Publisher’s Note: This book was previously released by another publisher. It has been revised and re-edited for release with Totally Bound Publishing.

Brandilyn’s View:

Nine One One by Scarlett Blackwell is a poignant look at two men’s attempts to move on after devastating loss. One has been in a holding pattern for ten years. One has been trying to fuck away is guilt over surviving when so many others, and specifically his brother, weren’t as lucky. They happen to meet at Christmas time ten years after the 9/11 tragedy. They were both first responders that day and both lost people close to them when the South Tower fell.

They, however, are at completely different places in their post-9/11 lives. Damon is running scared and Simon determined to stop Damon’s running ways. They meet a few times before Simon finally gets Damon in bed. Once they are there boy is is hot… time and time again. However, one night is all they are going to have… one way, or another.

Nine One One is a tale about grief, loss, survival, and moving on, more than it is about the power of the holidays. While it is set around Christmas, it is more a catalyst for the actions of these men than it is a central theme of the story. If you generally shy away from “Holiday” stories for the cheese factor, this Nine One One may be a good option for you.
