Adopted at an early age by a wealthy family, Jake Davis has always seemed to have an easy life. Even in college he was blessed with good grades and an apparently clear path to a pro football career. Good thing his best friend keeps hanging around to keep his head from getting too swollen.
Zakiya Incekara has always been…odd. Being fluent in six languages and having a flair for international cooking should open the world to him, but those skills leave him isolated.
When Jake sees Zak for the first time, with water beading down his slender form, something inside him shifts, and it hungers for Zak. To have him. To claim him. And Jake knows that whatever it is, it won’t be denied.
When they are approached by a man who claims knowledge of a secret past they share, Jake and Zak are thrust into a world they would never have believed existed. The forests of Alaska might seem an odd place to find your destiny, but these men will meet the challenges head on, as they learn that sometimes you have to make sacrifices to be Protector of the Alpha.

Caroline’s View:

There I was looking for something to get me over a reading hangover and this dropped into my inbox. I love shifter stories so bumped it to the top of my reading list and ended up not putting it down until 3am. YES, it was that good!

The first thing I must say is the world building is fabulous. There are all sorts of historic events that lead to the way the story enfolds and you learn it all as the MC’s do as they have no idea of what is going to happen to their lives or what they mean to each other.

Jake Davis, adopted at a young age by a wealthy family, has everything going for him. Brilliant football player keeps up good grades at College and is popular with his peers. He is fiercely protective of his best friend Casey and unusual circumstances have kept the two men together at the same College.

Jake is the first thing that will fascinate you in this book. After pinning down a smell that draws him and makes him feel a bit funny he discovers the new boy Zak in the shower and from the moment on he can’t stay away.

From that moment on his life is also turned upside down, he starts having nightmares, his body changes, something appears ‘off’ with his parents and numerous other things happen that leave Casey worried about his best friend.

Zak is an enigma. Cold doesn’t even star to describe him, aloof is too polite and he makes a point of cutting Jake off at every turn, but as much as he wants to stay away and not give into his attraction to the other man it is impossible.

Without giving anything away these guys have a destiny and it is huge. They have to risk their lives to help save others but the marvel is that this isn’t something that happens over night. This has been years in the making and that is where the story really drags you in. There are so many twists and turns that bring us to this point and the story line is just sheer pleasure to read and unravel.

Parker Williams has crafted a very well thought out story that you will find nearly impossible to put down. I have just one complaint and it is the same complaint as usual…..cliff-hanger…it’s a pretty damn big one!
