Brock Holloway has it all — money, friends, a bitchin’ car and a promising football career. At least, that’s what people see. Inside, though, Brock is fighting for something he knows he can never have: Unconditional love. As the child of Aphrodite, he is worshipped, admired, wanted – but never loved.

Zack Duran is a wolverine shifter — and not a nice guy. Zack’s shifter side is always in control, often making him heartless and unfeeling. When Zack is assigned to guard Brock Holloway, his tactless wolverine tendencies become even more prevalent and Zack has to fight his shifter personality AND his genuine feelings for the beautiful football player.

A near tragedy shakes him to his core, and Zack can no longer fight the feelings he has for Brock. But giving in to his emotions may come at too high a price. A startling secret charges Brock with the nearly impossible task of taming Zack’s beast. Is he up to the challenge? Can Zack give him what he needs? And with danger working overtime, can they finally be together as they were intended?

Caroline’s View:

Many moons ago I picked up a book called A Marked Man. Someone had been raving about it on my Facebook page so off I went to purchase it. I hadn’t realised at the time it was the first book in a very long series called Assasin/Shifter! I was addicted; there are currently 23 books in that series and I have loved every single one of them. Keeping up with the world building and characters alone must be a full time job for Sandrine!!

Off the Assassin/Shifter series comes the 12 Olympians. These books have a lot of the old characters and host of new ones that are demi-gods, you quite literally get twice the fun! Strange Addiction is book 4 in the series and the story of Brock and Zack.

Brock seemingly has everything he wants or needs in life. Money, prestige, good friends and an endless revolving door to his bed but he is lonelier than ever before. What he really needs is someone to hold him, someone to kiss him and someone to love him. What he actually gets is cold mechanical sex that just increases his loneliness and leaves him unhappy. He may laugh and joke with his friends about being a man whore but in reality it hurts. Even his adoptive parents don’t seem to love him, packing up when the going gets tough and leaving him more alone than ever.

Zachs life has been a bit of nightmare and it is only now through the help of the Skull Blasters team that he is learning how to socialise. Captured, detained and experimented on for years he is snarky and cold and has no time for his new young charge and his whoring ways. His DNA was altered whilst in captivity and he is in a daily battle with his wolverine side to keep it under control.

Neither of these men shows their true personas to the outside world and definitely not to each other. The whole time they are having naughty thoughts about each other they are at the same time hurting each other with their nasty words and actions. They go backwards and forwards in small steps until the night it all becomes too much for Brock and his actions could have dire consequences for the rest of the Olympians and the team. The one it hits most though is Zack and he has to admit, against everything that his wolverine wants, that he is falling for Brock and can’t imagine living without him.

When they finally sort their heads out and get together they are as cute, hot and bad assed as all Sandrines men. There is also another dormant problem of Zach’s to sort out but love will conquer all as we see the next demi god find his soul mate.

This book touches on a sensitive subject that can leave families and friends devastated. Remember no matter how bad it seems at the time, tomorrow is another day.
