A Secret Sin Novel
Police officer Gabriel Carter refuses to walk away from an assignment without seeing it through. So when he goes into deep cover as a male prostitute named Ty, he intends to do everything in his power to see his case to an arrest. He seduces his mark, Demetrius Prado, the second most powerful man in Las Vegas and a human trafficker, but the man is nothing like he expected.
The more Gabriel learns about Demetrius, the more twists and turns are thrown his way in the convoluted case leading to Demetrius’s rival, Arden, and beyond. It’s a case of mistaken identities and layer after layer of trumped-up cover stories, and Gabriel is sure there’s no way he’ll ever be able to trust Demetrius with his life… much less with his heart.
What to say, what to say. First of all, put this on your TBR. Twisty, turny, twisty, turny. That is about all to say. It is a dark world, with light people. Dub-con, but not typical. Can you tell I have no idea what to say. It reads pretty quick, and once you get into it, you don’t want to put it down.
That is my original impression of Undercover Sins by Haley B James when I read it 18 months ago (give or take). Even on re-read knowing where the twists and turns would lead, I still have to give this story 4.5 solid stars.
Stories like Undercover Sins are why I read. They engage the mind and surprise me. It is a dark world in which Ty (aka Gabriel) has immersed himself. The world of Las Vegas human trafficking is not for the faint of heart, and he just may not come out the other end the same man. The ends justify the risk and the means… to an extent. When he hooks up with one of the biggest baddies in the human trafficking world, he starts to wonder just what actions are justified to get the bad guy.
With the Ty a target, his mark crazy, smart, and unpredictable, his boss wanting to pull him off the case, and others in the underworld after his hide, Ty must determine who to trust and fight his attraction to the bad guy. He also must find a way to keep himself… well himself.
Thrilling, cerebral, hot, and heartbreaking, Undercover Sins left me eager for more and scared to find out what else could be in store.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
