Why I Write ~ Michael Kudo: Outside the Margins

Michael Kudo OtMGreetings and salutations, oh person who is currently reading this post!

For those of you who know me (or simply those who can read) you know my name is Michael Kudo and I’m an author. For those who don’t know me…well, you can read.

I’m here today to talk about the very thing I ask myself when I’m thousands of words behind and a deadline is rapidly approaching around the corner: [why do I write?]

I write because my imaginary friends won’t let me not – I can’t picture myself ignoring all of them. Just simply not telling their stories and sharing them with the world. Sometimes I want to be selfish and keep them all to myself but I know I can’t because if I do, they’d never fully grow and I’d never learn more about myself… because that’s what they truly are, extensions of myself.

I write because I dream of better worlds – I dream of places where conflicts always come to an end, people always stick up for each other, and every kiss leads to a happy ending…even if there’s tons of crap along the way the characters prove they’re stronger than that.

I write because I believe in true love – I believe that nothing is stronger than the raw emotion between two people who care deeply for each other. And nothing can come between two people who’ve been through hell and back just to be together and share such a deep devotion because of it.

I write because it’s in my blood – I can’t count the number of times that I heard of my grandfather writing poems/songs, while not novels they were stories in their own right.

I write because I want to make people smile – as long as I could remember, I loved to make people smile. I would tell them outlandish stories and think up crazy scenarios just to see the inevitable laughter pour out their mouth and it would make me so happy because they were happy.

And lastly, I write because I can’t picture myself doing anything else – it’s who I am.

  1. I’d love to be able to write for all of those reasons, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. But….I’m happy for you. 😉
