Mitchell Turner and Alex Goodman squared off over a face-off dot throughout high school. Their schools were cross-country rivals. Those face-offs were tough on Mitchell because he harbored a huge crush on Alex. High school, and college, are behind the guys and they meet unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Day, once again on the ice. Mitchell is home for the holidays and is thrilled to see his crush all grown up.
Alex asks Mitchell out for coffee to catch up. Could this be the start of something magical for the holidays … and beyond?
Jeff Adams was recently a guest of Prism Book Alliance. Be Sure to check out their guest post here.
I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the Hat Trick series from Jeff Adams, but I have had the pleasure of meeting Jeff and his partner on a few occasions. He is also one of the authors that writes for Outside the Margins here on Prism. We also recently had him on the blog talking about Rivals, his short recently re-released by JMS Books.
I really wanted to read it, but I always go into books by authors I know personally with trepidation. I am a hard sell. Anyone who reads this blog knows that. I am particular, and I can be a tough audience. That can lead to some awkward moments when an author is really excited about their latest book that just may not be for me. However, shortly into Rivals I knew that I wasn’t in for an awkward moment. I was in for a treat.
Rivals is the story of two high school hockey rivals who meet up again over the holidays a few years later. It is a sweet and hot romance. Some may think it is too quick, but it is quirky and fun, and I just wanted the best for Alex and Mitchell. This isn’t a full blown story; it is a short look into the passion and sweetness between these two men.
It is an enjoyable fifteen thousand words. Now I need to go get Hat Trick so I can read some more from Mr. Adams.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
