Prism Book Alliance would like to thank RJ Scott for taking the time to talk with us today about their retro title from Love Lane Books, Texas Christmas and the Heart of Texas. Prism recently reviewed Texas Christmas and the Heart of Texas. You can find the review here.
We are here today to talk about Texas Christmas and the rest of the Texas Series
What can you tell us about these titles?
The Texas series is six books, with over three hundred thousand words spread out over four years. From the very first meeting to extending a family, and with all the drama in between. Set just outside Dallas it focuses on Jack Campbell, middle brother and running his mum’s ranch, the DD. When Riley Hayes, son of Gerald Hayes blackmails him into marriage his life will never be the same again.
Tell us more about Riley & Jack, Eli & Robbie and all the rest of the gang at the Double D?
While the series focuses on Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, there is also a whole huge cast of other characters. The Aussie cowboy, the photographer, the adoption expert, the young kid who needs rescuing… and this is alongside the main Campbell-Hayes extended family!
How do you choose names? If you decide to change a name, do you feel that it alters your perception of the character?
I have to be careful. Texas Fall was my seventieth book and I have a tendency to have favourite names (Jack being one of them!). I don’t change names when I’ve started writing in general. If I do it would be for a very good reason as the names become part of my characters personality.
What about this series makes you the most proud?
That moment when someone emails you and says they love Jack, or they love Riley. But as to the writing it has to be the inclusion of a young boy with autism.
Texas Fall (book 6) was recently published. Are we done with the Double D?
No. There will be one more book, Texas Wedding. This will be written when Texas rules for equality in marriage.
Anything else you want to tell us about Texas Christmas and the rest of the Texas Series?
That I enjoy every minute I write these boys. It is as natural to write them as it is to breathe.
Tell us about some of your other titles.
I have over seventy books to my name, from Texas to Christmas, Heroes to bodyguards, standalones to series. For more details on my books please visit www.rjscott.co.uk or email me email@example.com – I love to hear from readers.

The Heart Of Texas
Riley Hayes, the playboy of the Hayes family, is a young man who seems to have it all: money, a career he loves, and his pick of beautiful women. His father, CEO of HayesOil, passes control of the corporation to his two sons; but a stipulation is attached to Riley’s portion. Concerned about Riley’s lack of maturity, his father requires that Riley ‘marry and stay married for one year to someone he loves’. Angered by the requirement, Riley seeks a means of father’s stipulation. Blackmailing Jack Campbell into marrying him “for love” suits Riley’s purpose. There is no mention in his father’s documents that the marriage had to be with a woman and Jack Campbell is the son of Riley Senior’s arch rival. Win win. Riley marries Jack and abruptly his entire world is turned inside out. Riley hadn’t counted on the fact that Jack Campbell, quiet and unassuming rancher, is a force of nature in his own right. This is a story of murder, deceit, the struggle for power, lust and love, the sprawling life of a rancher and the whirlwind existence of a playboy. But under and through it all, as Riley learns over the months, this is a tale about family and everything that that word means.
Riley’s past comes back to haunt him both professionally and personally. His dead brother left more than just bitter memories for Riley to deal with. The FBI get involved and suddenly it is more than his good name that is on the line. Jack is always there for him but how much more can Riley’s husband reasonably be able to understand? Especially when Riley finds out on his delayed honeymoon that he has a eight year old daughter he never knew existed…
Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes are in a good place. Jack is expanding the DD and training quarter horses, Riley is so close to his first ethical based contract that he can almost taste it and Hayley is nearly ten and happy as all out.
Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile Riley’s flamboyant mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decides the DD is the perfect backdrop for a cowboy themed model shoot. Eli has secrets not even Riley knows about but despite what he is hiding he falls in lust with Robbie at first sight. Everyone except Robbie can see how perfect Eli would be for him. What happens when secrets spill and lies are discovered? And just how far will Riley and Jack go to play matchmaker? Against the backdrop of twenty half naked models on DD land, and in the midst of fighting the oil establishment that just won’t give Riley a chance, Texas Heat is the story of one hot summer in Texas with a Gay Rodeo, a bar fight at the Rusty Nail, humor, angst and a love between two men that just grows stronger every day.
Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes begin a journey that will change their lives forever. Set against the backdrop of the Double D, the cast of the Texas books face changes that won’t leave a single one of them untouched. Jack and Riley want to extend their small family of three. Their first choice is surrogacy with Jack as the father and when all this begins smoothly both men can’t help but contemplate at what point would things go wrong. After all, their lives are far from normal and nothing is ever smooth. Add a small four year old boy in foster care into the mix and suddenly things become a whole lot more complicated.
Six men with lives linked to the Double D… Danger comes to the Double D from Liam’s past and threatens everything Jack and Riley hold dear. Centering on Jack and Riley, parents, lovers and friends. Jack makes a decision that will affect the ranch, and Riley realises peace comes at a price.
Eli and Robbie have their home on Double D land. Their love is rooted in the Texas soil and they weather as many storms as can be thrown at them. And Liam, a young men with a head full of dreams and sleep full of nightmares, finds that all things are possible when Marcus decides to interrupt his solitary existence.

RJ Scott has been writing since age six, when she was made to stay in at lunchtime for an infraction involving cookies. She was told to write a story and two sides of paper about a trapped princess later, a lover of writing was born.
She can mostly be found reading — anything from thrillers to sci-fi to horror. However, her first real love will always be the world of romance. When writing her goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and more than a hint of happily ever after.
