Five couples try to find love on Christmas and in the process discover themselves.
There has been a minor lapse in the ‘Kol Anderson School of Horror’ as one of my favourite authors to deliver dark and dastardly has given us something with a bit of happiness in for Christmas and dare I use the word fluffy! This is not what I was expecting but as always the writing was fabulous and story was smooth.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas Santa and his elves are roaming the streets and offering you the chance to have a wish come true. The only stipulation is that ‘payment’ is not necessarily cash but something that holds deep meaning to you personally. They send you off with your certificate which has a star on it, the optimists are hopeful and the pessimists are left feeling off kilter.
There are a great many characters in this story and you flip backwards and forwards to see where they are in their lives. Some of the stories are intertwined but all of them involve love and hope.
You have the single father whose wife died just a few months ago and his son who wants to see his daddy happy. You also have his brother in law who is hiding in the closet and has every intention of staying there. The man who is just about to get married but is he doing the right thing? The model and the businessman who are so in love yet can’t seem to get their priorities right. Two young boys just acknowledging their sexuality who face the bullies at school and in their home.
This is about catching your dreams at a magical time of the year. It’s about hope, love and taking chances and is the first book by Kol that hasn’t made me shudder!!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
