It was a pleasure to re-read and review this stunning and passionate sequel to Afflicted.

Book 2: Hunter and Dillon finally came to terms with the idea that they wanted more than just hot sex with each other. Dillon decided to quit hustling in order to invest his time and energy in building their relationship, and Hunter let his barriers down and opened his heart. But fear has a way of creeping up and dismantling things that we hold precious. Dillon’s family isn’t quite finished with him yet and Hunter is torn about whether he should step into the fray.
Their journey together comes to a thrilling conclusion.
With their tentative HFN at the conclusion of Affliction, it is clear Hunter and Dillon still have work to do on their relationship. With mounting family conflicts and life decisions to make, it will take some serious compromise and understanding in order for their commitment to each other to take root.
As in Afflicted, Brandon Shire takes us into the world of two men who are crazy for one another but have issues that hold them back from seeking more with each other than just steamy sex. As they pursue a more committed relationship in Afflicted II, blind audiobook producer Hunter Stephens and male escort Dillon Chambers must face both internal and external conflicts that impede the progress of their finding happiness together. Family members play a vital role here as the main characters grapple with the after-effects of past hurts and the threat they present to a happy future together. New cast members are introduced as conflicts escalate and emotions run high, and the fragile bond that Hunter and Dillon are carefully forging is put to the test as the two men work to find the strength within themselves to overcome the obstacles placed in their path.
Vulnerabilities and insecurities are more pronounced in this sequel as the two men begin to bare themselves to one another and to the reader. The intensity of their attraction to one another does not diminish as they cautiously move the relationship forward; in fact, the heat is ratcheted up even further in this next phase of their romance as boundaries are pushed and explorations ensue. Their scenes still explode off the page with a raw carnality and, though a bit lengthy at times, serve as an intoxicating distraction from the turmoil in their lives as they focus entirely on their desire to please one another. Vibrant secondary characters return to grace and impact the continuation of story, as well, and the reader is treated to deeper insights into these personalities as layers are revealed and further connections are made.
In short, it was a treat to see these captivating characters and their story continue. This sequel is one of the best I have ever read, and Brandon Shire, as always, writes a tale rich with a passion and honesty that I find refreshing and appealing. I loved Afflicted II and highly recommend it as a follow-up to Afflicted.
