Jensen Rivers wasn’t looking for trouble. As the new kid on the block at Clyde’s Body Shop, all Jensen wanted was a job, a place where he could put his head down and ass up. Young and handsome, he was the kind of simple, honest guy who was happiest when he was working hard, with oil smeared across his chest and grease up to his elbows.
But Dean ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson plans on getting more than just Jensen’s hands dirty! Reckless and arrogant, drenched in sweat and dripping with a masculinity that cannot be tamed, Hutch challenges Jensen to a series of perilous night races. The prize: sexual domination!
Night after night, wheels burn, passions flare and the no-holds-barred lust between two testosterone-fuelled daredevils ignites. But losing a race is one thing. Losing your heart is something altogether more dangerous.
Will Jensen risk everything to find the love trapped behind Hutch’s fearless façade? Will Hutch bury the secret tragedy of his past before he throws away his last chance at a future?
Kickstart your need for speed, fire up your lust for life and buckle up for hottest thrill-ride of the year—Drive Shaft.
This is car talk and guy talk. It’s motorcycles, muscle cars and sex.
Knight is always good with physical place detail, setting the scenes with movement and atmosphere. Gravel spraying under jet black tires from crumbling concrete, old wooden rolling carts squeaking across the blooming oil stained floor, and fading streaks of sunlight glistening off sweaty, grease smudged skin.
His writing can also be rather obvious and sometimes repetitive, as happens in this story. Well, story, ok technically it’s a story. But really, it’s porn on the page. It’s better than most POP but it’s still POP. It made me grin, roll my eyes and get a bit steamed up.
There is uh some interesting uses of items typically found in a car repair shop. Knight does like to include the quirky in his stories.
Here’s the formula: car/bike race, sex (and tools), yelling and misunderstanding, race, sex (and rope), yelling, race (aka challenge issued in an attempt to hide the pain), danger! danger!, and then love.
Yup. Gitchur POP right here when you’re next in the mood. Guys, you’ll either loathe or celebrate this one. 😀
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
