Summer never ends on the tiny South American island of Santa Juanita where the people are beautiful and the water is always—hot!
Dive master Clive Ducaine left a disastrous affair and corporate day job to pursue a simpler life. He has no regrets about his decision to move to Santa Juanita to teach tourists the fine art of spelunking. With the unlimited banquet of hot bodies and casual sex to fill his days and nights, he has truly found paradise on earth.
Eight years ago Trevor Donohue’s lover was gunned down on a New York street and died in Trevor’s arms. Life changed that day, and not for the better. Now, working as a VP for a medical manufacturing company leaves Trevor no time or desire for another relationship. But then, during his first vacation in years, he meets the resort’s sexy dive instructor, Clive. Suddenly abandoning his tight schedules and video-meetings for a little vacation romance looks a lot more promising.
Hot Water by Cassie Sweet was recommended to me for a challenge. Who doesn’t love a good vacation romance, right?
Clive and Trevor both have reasons to escape “reality” in a beautiful Island locale. Clive did it years ago when his family disowned him. Trevor did it begrudgingly at the insistence of his boss. They both have reasons that they think a relationship isn’t in the cards. They both resist, but their chemistry eventually prevails.
Okay, so I may be oversimplifying the plot just a bit, but at its core that is exactly what Hot Water is about. I can’t say that there was anything spectacular about Hot Water. While I would have liked to get to know the main characters a bit better, I enjoyed the story as a whole. In the end, I am not in any way confident that Clive and Trevor are in it for the long-haul, or that they even belong together. Overall, however, their journey was entertaining, if a bit predictable.
Insta-love haters should probably avoid this one. Those looking for a sweet, hot good time, however will enjoy it. I wouldn’t turn down another story from Ms. Sweet in the future.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
