Micah “Pup” Slayde knows he wants Tackett Austin the moment he lays eyes on him in the Guards of Folsom. Micah wants to have purpose, to be taken care of, and to take care of his Dom—wants to trust him completely, live for him, belong to him. To become his everything. Micah is sure Tackett is the one. The problem is, in order to be the perfect sub, he needs to stay focused, and that’s not easy for Micah, who suffers from what he refers to as a “broken brain”. Focus and adult Attention Deficit Disorder (Adult ADD) rarely coexist.

Ever since Ty Callahan and Blake Henderson’s collaring ceremony, Tackett’s been thinking too much about his own loneliness. Even though Ty introduces Micah and urges Tackett to give him a try, Tackett isn’t so easily convinced. He’s spent his life pursuing a successful business career, and the subs he dominates almost never enjoy the kiss of his leather twice. Twenty years Micah’s senior, Tackett has no interest in taking on and taming such a young and naughty sub—but it’s difficult to resist such an adorable pup when he begs.

My View – Story:

My biggest discovery of 2014 was audio books. Once I had realised how easy they were to get onto my phone (huge technophobe here!) and what a pleasure most of them were to listen to there was no stopping me. There seems to be more and more titles being made available which is a huge plus but the one thing there doesn’t seem to be too much of is a wide range of BDSM titles. Imagine my excitement when I saw Pup on audio!!

I first read Pup in April 2013 and became an immediate fan of the series. I love Jo Peterson’s writing with her complex and damaged characters and her hot scenes that keep you turning the pages.

Micah is a beautiful character totally aware of his submissive tendencies and equally aware of his brain being scattered. As a child he tried the medication but as an adult he has his own systems in place to try and keep him in the moment but living with ADD is not easy. He is cocky and resilient and as soon as he saw Tackett he knew he had found the Dom he wanted.

Tackett’s wealth is self made and he has everything he could ever want – except a long term lover/sub. It isn’t really something he has given a lot of thought to but as another birthday passes and he looks at his friends who are all finding partners he starts to give it more thought and wonders if he’s missing out. He is a Dom who likes bondage and pain and he is well respected at the local BDSM club that he attends but nothing could prepare him for the whirlwind that is Micah.

Their relationship isn’t easy as Tackett tries to understand how Micah’s brain works and tries to find the best ways to ground him. Although he seems stern their interactions are loving and it’s very easy to see how they fall for each other so quickly. This isn’t a BDSM can fix anything story but more a love story with kink and really Tackett never stood a chance from page 1.

My View – Narration:

Rusty Topsfield did a great job with the narration. Again, back to the lack of BDSM on audio, I wonder whether it has anything to do with it being difficult to narrate the actual scenes….Rusty did a great job and I didn’t laugh or roll my eyes once!
