Title: Ansleigh’s Grotto
Author: J.T. Cheyanne
Genre/Sub-Genre: Contemporary, M/M Romance
Dylan Matthews lives in a world of fantasy. As a video game designer, there are no limits on how far or wide his imagination could stretch. He loves his work and excels at bringing the visions in his head to a game console. The luck of his Irish heritage seems to touch him when his prototype Zombie ApoXalypse is bought days after he inherits a mansion in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Life is indeed magical.
Ansleigh has waited centuries for one man, only to find him and then lose him due to his own inability to trust in their burgeoning love. The magick of Mother Earth flows within him and through him allowing him to nourish the Grotto where he makes his home. Yet, he yearns for the male that nurtures his soul. When the whims of Fate bring his Cosantoir back into his life, does he have the courage to accept his heritage?
As the fantasies in his head become reality and the monsters of nightmares crawl through the forest, can Dylan forgive broken promises to protect the Croi? There is no pause button when the Fae and human worlds collide. Will Dylan have what it takes to master the maze and win Ansleigh’s freedom?
1. We are here today to talk about Ansleigh’s Grotto. What can you tell us about it?
JT: Hi darlin! I’m very glad to be visiting today. Thank you for having me. Hmm, Ansleigh’s Grotto is very different from anything I’ve written before. I was taken with the story from the beginning, but it was outside my paranormal realm of vampires and wolves. I had to do quite a bit of research on the Fae and the literature on them is extensive. I learned quite a lot and actually changed the end of the book to include the Dullahan. I was extremely excited to find him in the wealth of Irish folklore. I was terrified on release day because it was so different than what I’ve written before. I’m extremely thrilled that my friends and readers embraced it.
Although the book starts from Dylan’s point of view, Ansleigh actually showed up in my head first. He pretty much directed the story. I had this vivid image of where he lived and how much he loved the forest that surrounded him. It’s a love story with a nice HEA but it centered around that Grotto.
2. Tell us more about Dylan.
JT: Dylan is a combination of dreamer and realist. His professional life gave him an outlet for the magic and dreams in his head while his life experiences showed him the harsh reality. He existed without living because he was missing a vital part of who he was. All to well, he understood the importance of seizing the moment and fighting for what he wanted. He also understood that being angry would only add more delay in getting what he wanted the most. I loved the way he took everything in stride and accepted Ansleigh.
3. What about Ansleigh’s Grotto makes you the most proud?
JT: What V.L. told me after she finished reading it…she told me it was just like sitting at her dad’s knee and listening to him tell the old myths and stories from his childhood home. He’s Irish, born and raised. To me, it was the highest praise ever.
4. If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring writers, what would it be?
JT: Write! If you think you want to be a writer, do it. Don’t make excuses, don’t put it off. Sit down and write something every day. It may not work in the manuscript you’re writing and the next day you might change it, but keep the creative muse flowing. The more you write, the easier it gets.
5. What is the nicest thing a reader has said to you in a review, email, in person, or on social media?
JT: Oh gosh. I really don’t know. Almost everyone is so nice and supportive. I have a wonderful group of friends on Facebook who’ve been with me from the first published work. They all mean the world to me. I guess the best thing they say is…they love the books. Every author wants to hear that after they’ve struggled to hard to get the words out and the edits done. Each of them embrace the characters, especially Lachi and Laz who are the nearest and dearest to my heart.
6. How will the world end?
JT: Okay, for my sons who believe this with every fiber of their being…zombie apocalypse….and yes that was definitely the inspiration for Dylan’s first video game.
7. What are you reading right now and what is next on your to-be-read list?
JT: I just finished Viper Game by Christine Feehan. I’m a huge Ghostwalker fan. I don’t have anything picked out for my next read. Any suggestions?
8. Rapid Fire Time
- Any Tattoos or piercings? One tattoo on my ankle, the name Vishous. Yes…that Vishous. YUM
- Red or White? Color…red, wine..neither.
- Handcuffs or Rope? Rope, more possibilities. Insert wicked laugh here.
- Country or City? Country
- Love Story or Thriller? Love story every time.
- Favorite Color? Blue
- Sweet or Sour? Most definitely sweet.
- Train or Plane? Plane, that’s what gets me to my angel.
9. What are you working on? What is next?
JT: Right now, I’m working on Broken Oaths. A co-authored book with my wife, V.L. It’s a boundary pusher. We’re past midway and headed for the end. Next up is the third book in the Crimson Nights Saga. Back to our boys Laz and Lachi and their sexy assortment of friends.
Thank you again for hosting on the blog tour. I really enjoyed visiting with you and answering the questions.
