Blurb:

There was a time when Master Saul Alvarez filled his days fighting and his nights teaching willing subs the pleasure of his whip. His compassionate understanding of the masochist mind makes him the most sought after professional sadist in the Miami BDSM community. Neither role invites long term relationships, but he’s comfortable with his solitary existence until he is charged with guarding Durango’s prized whore. One look into those terror filled eyes has him vowing to risk it all to save the beautiful man.

Javier Escardo had been praying for death, but never expected the stone cold killer he got in response. One glimpse into those sinful eyes reveals not only the promise of retribution, but a reason to live. Eight years later, free and mostly sane, Javier is determined to take what belongs to him. Saul’s heart. Through hell and back, through layers of pain and shifting realities, that one truth has remained firm. His protector needs saving and he can’t do it alone.

Hidden beneath the public persona, Kyle Jensen is a man who craves to be invisible without being insignificant. He longs to find a Master who will see his need to be taken over without abusing him and a lover who will care about him beyond the sexual games. It isn’t until he encounters the smoldering combination of Saul and Javier that he realizes it was never supposed to be just one partner at all.

Can two battered hearts be mended by the love of a third? Kyle becomes the light to their darkness, and he’s willing to risk his heart for theirs, but when the past threatens Saul, will Javier’s sacrifice destroy them all?

Kyle:

Since I posted the blurb about The Protector several people have asked me who Kyle was, where he came from and why I brought him into an existing relationship. The foundation of what Saul and Javier have at the beginning of the book is not really conducive to the relationship they want to have. Saul is very much stuck in the role of protector and Javier is equally stuck in the role of protectee.

There is a scene fairly early on where Kyle makes this observation:

Kyle watched curiously as Saul settled back and made room for Javier to nestle against his side. There was something very…automatic…about it. He couldn’t call it endearing or romantic because it just seemed mechanical, like they’d been doing it for so long that it had lost its meaning.

It’s a luxury of perspective that neither Saul nor Javier have. Javier wants to be coaxed out of his insulated bubble, but Saul fears doing that. Saul needs an outlet for the aggression he’s held in check for so long, but Javier isn’t capable of being that outlet. Their love for one another is endless, it’s just not enough. I realize some people will have a problem with that. After all, love should conquer all.

Kyle is a man who longs for a lover who is both tender and aggressive. He’s not looking for a pair, but he finds himself drawn to the love he sees in Saul and Javier. While he wants them, the worry that his own needs will take a backseat to theirs is huge. Saul warns him, his cousin warns him, and he’s smart enough to see the danger for himself. But he’s secure and confident. If anyone can stand strong under the weight of such heavy needs and help them both move beyond the roles they’ve become stagnant in, Kyle can.

In a genre that celebrates “Love is Love”, this book is just another variation on a theme. Does love conquer all? I’d like to think so, even if it takes the love of a third to open the eyes and hearts of a pair too close to the pain to see what’s right in front of them.

About the Author:

The-Protector-Jessie-G-AuthorLike many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I’d begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it’s a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With two published books and counting, it’s been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I’m a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you’ll find throughout my books.

  1. Thank you so much for hosting The Protector today! Kyle was such a pleasure to write. He’s strong, independent, self-made, sexy and his humor is just a touch twisted! I hope you fall in love with him the way I have.

I’ll be checking back regularly, so if anyone has any questions about the book or the series, please ask! I love to talk about my guys <3.

  2. Loved this book, I really enjoyed how the triad became a whole, if that makes sense, each giving the others what they needed. Saul and Javi are great together but to add Kyle into the mix it just blew up to a whole new level of greatness.

  3. I can’t really enter the contest because I don’t do Facebook, but I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the cover model (the full frontal view). He’s beautiful. I’ve never really been tempted by menage but I might give it a try just to get the cover. Ya never know, after trying it, I might just like it. 🙂

    • Barbara, you can log into rafflecopter with just an email (it’s the smaller button below the “login with facebook”), then you can chose how you want to enter (i.e. visiting a facebook page or a twitter page). And Prism Books is going to select two winners just from the comments, so just by posting you’ve entered to win an ebook copy.

Hope that helps and Good Luck!!

  4. Another great look into the book. I love reading about the characters and their backgrounds and/or motivations. Thanks for the chance to win!
