One of London’s up-and-coming chefs, Eddie Tripp has just the right recipe to drive tragedy from the mind of Gideon Kent—and leave him senseless with desire.
THE MEN OF LONDON
From Soho to Norwich, there’s no escaping love.
A TASTE OF FOREVER
An award-winning chef with his own restaurant and an inexhaustible passion, Gideon Kent once had everything. Then came tragedy. It stole more than Gideon’s home. He hasn’t cooked since.
Until Eddie Tripp. Fun-loving and vivacious, the Norfolk redhead’s a real up-and-comer in Gideon’s kitchen—and other places. Slim where Gideon’s broad, easy-going where Gideon is growly, he and Gideon seem polar opposites, and yet Eddie conjures flavors that would tempt anyone with a taste for perfection. The sauce of love is already simmering, and this pair is about to dine on the most delicious dish they’ve ever prepared. Because Eddie’s been Gideon’s missing ingredient all along.
One that impresses everyone and is the next big thing, one who was almost the next big thing before tragedy struck. One who is a fiery tempered redhead, one who is a shell of himself and plagued by nightmares.
Gideon Kent owns his own restaurant and was tipped as the hottest young chef around when he watched his flatmate burn in front of his eyes in a house fire. Seeing it was bad enough, smelling it was traumatic and his brain shut down his senses. How can you continue to be a chef when you can no longer smell or taste what you are cooking? He is bitter, angry and scared.
Eddie Tripp has an aura around him when he is in the kitchen. Watching him prepare food and seeing the customers enjoy it is beautiful. Although Gideon can appreciate the skills of his new chef he can’t help but be jealous, that should still be him creating the masterpieces. Add in the fact that Eddie is bloody gorgeous and Gideon is attracted to him and you can just feel that all hell is about to break out.
There is the whole work colleagues don’t sleep together rule to get past but these two are so fiery and hot for each other that it doesn’t stand a chance. Then there is the misunderstanding when Gideon thinks he has been stood up, but at that point you can tell they both care a little too much to walk away.
When Eddie has to head home for a family crisis Gideon is just the support he needs, he also didn’t run for the hills when he met Eddie’s crazy housemates which gives him definite bonus points. Leslie and Taylor are both quirky but the three of them together are something else entirely.
This doesn’t have a quick fix. Gideon has a long road to recovery but when he finally seeks help and lets Eddie support him his whole demeanour changes and so too do his symptoms. There was no miracle at the end which would have seemed wrong but just a small amount of hope that maybe things could get better for him and that Eddie would be right by his side for the journey.
