Successful lawyer Santi Herrera couldn’t be happier with the direction his life is taking. Not only is he on track to becoming a partner in his law firm, but he’s planning his wedding to Hank Burton, a south Texas contractor who has made a name for himself despite his humble beginnings. The introverted lone wolf Santi and the friendly, outgoing Hank complement each other perfectly. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they were hooked, and as far as Santi and Hank are concerned, a happily ever after is their destiny.
But fate deals them a devastating new hand.
A construction accident leaves Hank with severe head trauma and brings him precariously close to death. When he finally awakens, Hank doesn’t remember Santi or the love they shared for the past three years. Santi faces the greatest challenge of his life. Can he respark a flame his lover can’t recall? And can he stop the diverging paths that fickle fate charts between them?
Santi has faith in the love he and Hank shared and in the words his father once spoke to him: “It’s never too late to fall in love. All over again.”
Please Remember Me by Jacob Z Flores is a heartbreak and heartwarming look at love that is meant to be and could make any skeptic believe in true love.
It is the story of Santi Herrera and Hank Burton falling in love … twice. When an unfortunately accident on the eve of their wedding costs Hank the memory of 3 perfect years together, Santi is determined to make Hank remember or fall in love with him again.
This story is full of hope and heartbreak, love and sorrow. It is the tale of two men falling in love with each other and one man’s determination to make sure that love is felt down in the other man’s soul. This isn’t to say that Santi is a saint. He gets frustrated. He does the wrong thing. But his sheer tenacity must be admired.
Is this story perfect? I would love to have known a bit more about Santi’s past. I felt I knew Hank pretty well by the end… but Santi was still a bit of a mystery.
The Epilogue. Oh the Epilogue. Often epilogues are just there to wrap up a few loose ends and to give the reader a glimpse into the main characters’ happily ever after. Flores, however, takes the epilogue up a notch.
I am looking forward to what Mr. Flores has for us next.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
