I don’t know how long my reviews for each of the Little Boy Lost series books will be. For one thing, I want to get right to the next book. For another, I don’t want to give away the plot on accident.
Abandoned continues Brian’s story. As he is the one left behind, he has to deal with the fallout in his conservative southern community. Classmates with violence on their mind and homophobic administrators combined to make Brian’s senior year hell.
He has to find strength he didn’t know he possessed in order to make it through the 11 months until he turns 18. When Jamie was ripped from his life, all Brian’s plans for the future went with him. He has to find the new normal, and he has to keep his eye on the goal. Along the way, he finds friends and allies in unexpected places.
Abandoned, for me, is all about strength and standing up for yourself. It is about not being a victim, even when everyone wants to make you one. It is also about love and soul mates. It is about being the man you need to be in order to get to the one you love.
Next up is Vanished. All I know is that I already have abandoned wimpy old kleenex in favor of a hand towel. A friend suggested a bath sheet. If the way Abandoned broke me is any indication, I may need it before the end.
