We are just taking a few minutes to talk about what excites us about GRL 2015. As a blog, we will have at least 6 reviewers in attendance. Last week we heard from Lirtle, Caroline, and Paisley.
So… What to say about GRL2015?
Well first is a bit of sadness. Some of my favorite people in the world will not be there this year. Whether due to money issues, scheduling, burn out, or whatever, several beloved friends, authors and readers alike, will not be joining us in San Diego.
As much as I will miss these individuals (and they know who they are), I will also get to see a lot of friends that I made last year. For me, GRL is about rare and precious face time (and hugs) with people I talk to on a daily basis.
Last year, I made it to three different conferences (RainbowCon, RT, and GRL). While each has a special place in my memory, GRL was like coming home. GRL was special. I didn’t even make it through Thursday with my voice intact, but I still loved every second of it.
This year will be different. First of all, my travel companion and roommate for all three conferences in 2014, Becky Condit, will be among the missing this year. Secondly, thanks to scheduling issues and family obligations, I am only making it to two conferences this year. UKMeet in September and GRL in October. Unlike last year, GRL won’t be so much about meeting people as seeing people again. That being said, there are a TON of people who weren’t able to be at GRL last year, or they were and we just didn’t cross paths, and I can’t wait to meet them for the first time.
I ran myself a little (okay a lot) ragged last year at GRL. I will not be doing that again this year. As much as I loved doing the raffle because it gave me an excuse to talk to people, it was just too much stress. I don’t know if we will be repeating it. I will be doing the giveaway for you, our beloved blog readers, though!
UKMeet, for me, is the nerve-wracking one as I have never been to the UK and will be traveling there alone. However, I know I will have a great time there as well. I am an introvert. You will see me hanging out on couches away from the crowds a lot, but that is just an invitation to sit and have a conversation. I also may be an introvert, but I love hugs, so feel free to ask 🙂

This will be my second GRL and I am every bit as excited as I was last year. But now that I have one under my belt, I am ever so slightly less terrified! I have never been to San Diego and I am so looking forward to exploring a bit if I can.
I am so excited to meet new authors and readers. I am thrilled to be able to re-meet the ones from last year! I can’t tell you how happy I am to spend time with my fellow PBA minions and our fearless leader (OK maybe not fearless bc we do give her plenty reason to be afraid) and to meet Caroline for the first time! OMG I cannot wait til we get together and get up to mischief. My roomies are gonna be fabulous and we are totally gonna unleash the Kraken!
But most of all I am excited to be back in a gathering of people who will love me for who I am. To be around people and not have to censor myself, or second guess what I say for fear of offending someone, or worry about being judged. I will be with my people and finally be able to feel a bit normal again! Is it October yet?
There was an incredible amount of energy going on last Saturday. Rushing adrenaline, pounding hearts, and excited squeeing were occurring all over the country and across the pond, and I am just talking about those of us from Prism Book Alliance.
There is a reason for all of this high-level emotion being released. For me, registration for my second GRL means that I get another opportunity to meet new people of this reading community, re-connect with those I have already met, and to once again indulge in big squishy hugs from some of my favorite people on the planet. In a nutshell, it is the resurgence and reaffirmation of a love for this genre and for those who share in it—readers, authors, and reviewers alike—and
So what is in store for me (and my PBA team) at GRL this year? Activities and events include but are not limited to the following:
- author-stalking—I mean, author-worship
- parties, dancing, and costumes
- more hugs
- meeting, greeting, and sharing
- readings, fascinating panels, and book signings
- still more hugs
- swag coveting
- slumber parties, cupcakes, and mischief
- even more hugs
- a road trip
- mayhem, blogging, and fangirling
- hugs galore
- talking, bonding, and laughing
- all of the above, and more hugs.
Is it October yet?
Will we see you in October?
I have a number of paperbacks, most of which are signed, to giveaway. Over the between now (11 Mar 2017) and 31 Mar 2017, every comment on the blog (this post and all other new posts), will be entered to win 1 of these paperbacks. There are also some misc swag items, so there will be a few packs of these to give away as well.
Thank you so much for your support over the last 4 years. Prism will be closing its doors on 1 April 2017. All content will remain available, but no new content will appear after 31 Mar 2017. As such all request forms have been turned off. Again Thank you,
