The new ER doctor is smoking hot, and the exotic African American paramedic can’t keep his eyes off of him. Tricky relationships and subterfuge at a Phoenix sex club almost drive a permanent wedge between the two, but a bombing at City Hall changes the endgame.
Paramedic Terrence Samuels loves a good time, especially at Phoenix’s top sex club for the GLBT crowd—Sinsation. The young African-American stunner with model good looks is very popular with many of the men at the club. One in particular seems to want more than Terrence would like to give, and is getting extra pushy. But when the sexy ER doctor takes care of Terrence after an injury whilst out on a call, he wonders if it’s time to get out of the club scene.
Ever since his long-time partner died, ER doctor Jackson Reed has been content to live alone with his cat. At thirty-eight, he thinks he has had his chance at love already. He likes to keep to himself at work, but his classic movie-star looks attract the wrong type of attention from a feisty female co-worker. When he blurts out that he’s gay to fend her off, she takes the rejection badly, and now he’s the focus of plenty of salacious hospital gossip.
It takes a lot of convincing from Terrence just to get Jackson to go out for a drink. Once they get together though, the chemistry is so strong that Jackson is ready to take the next step with his exotic date. But will Terrence be able to resist hooking up with multiple partners at Sinsation? And can Jackson trust that his younger stud won’t break his heart? Ultimately, it might be the bomb threats against the City of Mesa that tears them apart forever.
Reader Advisory: This story contains scenes of BDSM, multiple partners, voyeurism, and sex toys. There is also a scene involving a bombing at City Hall. Although this book is a part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Okay. Here is the deal. Lust Emergency, and the rest of the Uniform Encounters series, if not my usual fare. It is fluff. It is Porn without Plot (aka PWP). It is about the sex, not the characters. Not the universe. Not the plot. If you are not up for long graphic sex scenes between non-entities or main characters with non-entities, don’t read this series. If you are not up for more sex scenes than action, don’t read it.
I am using this series as an escape from the heavier material I usually read. I am reading purely for the entertainment. As such, some of my usual pet peeves, though present, will be absent from this discussion. If you want to know what they are… they are the same as in the first two books in the series. You can check out those reviews.
Let us just look at the story of Terrence and Jackson. They are both in the medical field, one a ER Doctor and one a paramedic. They are instantly drawn to each other but have lost in the past. As such they are reluctant. However, in true porn fashion, that reluctance is soon shed in favor of hot sex. However, it does take a while for them to decide to go all the way, as it were. Even at the end, I am not entirely sure if they belong together or not. However, they are hot together, so there is that.
Lust Emergency is certainly the kinkiest of the Uniform Encounters series to date. There is a live BDSM sex show, some menage action with one of the main characters (but not both and it is before the main characters get together). There is also some toy play towards the end. These two are anything but vanilla, but if you are scared of the BDSM, don’t be. The most it could be called is light.
As for the writing itself, it is competent. Knight gets her point across, but there isn’t much more than that. There is a fair amount of telling versus showing, and the backstories are skeletal at best. Don’t read this book to get invested in the setting, action, or characters. Read it because it is hot and that is what you are looking for.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
