Title: Max And The Prince (Bodyguards Inc #3)
Author: RJ Scott
Publisher: Love Lane Books
Cover Artist: Meredith Russell
Genre/Sub-Genre: Action/Adventure, Contemporary, Drama, Gay, M/M Romance, Romance
Book 1 – Bodyguard To A Sex God
Book 2 – The Ex Factor
Bodyguard Max Connery is used to being mistaken for being younger than he is.
Being carded every time he buys a beer is usual. Even though he’s just turned twenty eight and has two tours in Afghanistan as a pilot under his belt.
When a threat is made on the life of a prince attending University in the UK, Max is the perfect choice to blend in with students and to keep Prince Lucien safe. Even if it means joining the swim team to be by his side.
But, when death visits the University, abruptly this job is a long way past keeping the prince happy and safe. Instead Max has to keep Lucien alive.
My top ten bodyguards:
If you could choose any 10 people (famous or not) as your bodyguard, who would it be.
From my own books I would love have my body closely guarded by Kayden Summers (Face Value, Sanctuary 3), Joseph Kinnon (former SEAL from The Only Easy Day & Worlds Collide, Sanctuary 2 and 7 respectively). There again, I would love Manny Sullivan (The entire Sanctuary series, with his own story in Book 5, Full Circle). I wouldn’t say no to Adam Freeman from the first bodyguards book either, and as for strong silent teddy bear Ben Collins in book 2… sighs… I loved writing him. I think I am sensing a pattern here of the kind of characters I love to write… ROFL…
As to stars of film and TV that was just a difficult a list to write. I loved Harrison Ford as Han Solo, but even though I loved Raiders I didnt like Indy as much as Han… so I thought I would be really specific about which film I am choosing…
Vin Diesel – The Pacifier -Funny, hot, good at the bodyguarding and with kids – win/win
Kevin Costner – The Bodyguard – ’cause, come on, no bodyguard list would be complete without mentioning ‘the’ bodyguard.
Harrison Ford as Han Solo – melts at his bad boy goodness and his ability to get the job done.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor – I don’t need to explain this one, right?
Bruce Willis – Diehard – Because this was Bruce’s perfect character in what I think is a perfect film. He’s bad ass, calm, cool, sexy, and has a wicked slant on one liners.
G Callen / Sam Hanna (Chris O’Donnell/LL Cool J) – NCIS LA – these two would certainly be able to look after me. I’d look after them too.
Marty Deeks / Kensi Blye (Eric Christian Olsen / Daniela Ruah) – NCIS LA – Marty, oh Marty, you complicated strong man you, and yes, I do have a bit of a crush on Kensi (as does the hubby!)
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) – Walking Dead – Just… if there was a zombie apocolypse i would want him by my side, as well as Meredith Russell because she is a zombie expert.
Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) – Hawaii 5O – He’s just too pretty not to add to the list.
Important post note – shakes head sadly – Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester would have made my list up to a couple years ago. I mean I’ve touched the guy and he is hard muscled and strong and BIG… but he spends most of his time on SPN now looking up from the floor dazed after being hit once… so… no more…
I’m not sure that is ten but it’s quite close. So, who would you have as your bodyguard? Do you want brains or brawn?
The door slammed open. Teddy stalked in and immediately Lucien tensed.
“I won’t have it,” Teddy snapped. He loomed over Lucien and grabbed his arm so hard Lucien let out a small curse. “You’re coming home where it’s safe or I follow you at your University.” The way he said the words gave no room for a third option and for a moment any hope Lucien had that Max could help him disappeared.
Until he was staring down at Teddy flat on his back with Max looming over him and his lower arm pressed to Teddy’s throat. Teddy attempted to struggled, but somehow Max had managed to fell Teddy with some kind of ninja move that had Lucien sit with mouth wide open in shock.
“Gerroffme,” Teddy shouted. Or at least he was probably attempted to shout and he was flailing at the same time. Finally Max let up the hold and Teddy rolled to his feet with grace that belied his height.
“Don’t threaten my client again,” Max said. Lucien looked from Max to Teddy and back again. Teddy was bristling, his hands in fists at his side, Max on the other hand was loose-limbed and ready for the next go.
“I’m your client?” Lucien finally honed in on the one piece of information that had formed part of that whole smack down.
“As of ten minutes ago,” Max said.
Teddy loosened his tight fists and instead crossed his arms over his chest. He was not going to be happy about being embarrassed and Lucien knew that for a fact. Teddy was just as aware of what people thought of him, and of his place in things, as Lucien was. This could get ugly. Teddy wasn’t an easy win and he’d likely thump Max.
Instead he did something surprising. He held out his hand. “You took me by surprise,” he said.
Max took the hand and they shook. “I did.”
“You keep him safe.”
About the Author:
RJ Scott has been writing since age six, when she was made to stay in at lunchtime for an infraction involving cookies. She was told to write a story and two sides of paper about a trapped princess later, a lover of writing was born.
As an avid reader herself, she can be found reading anything from thrillers to sci-fi to horror. However, her first real true love will always be the world of romance where she takes cowboys, bodyguards, firemen and billionaires (to name a few) and writes dramatic and romantic stories of love and passion between these men.
With over seventy titles to her name and counting, she is the author of the award winning book, The Christmas Throwaway. She is also known for the Texas series charting the lives of Riley and Jack, and the Sanctuary series following the work of the Sanctuary Foundation and the people it protects.
Her goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and most importantly, that hint of a happily ever after.
