Altered States (Altered States 0.5) by Laura Harner ~ Book Review by PizzyGirl

In my preparations for reading this years Pulp Friction series, I have decided to read the Altered States series. These 4 books set the world for PF2015 and I felt to enjoy the serial to its fullest, I needed to read these books first. What I got was a great series that I fully intend to continue reading even without PF2015!

Altered States Title: Altered States (Altered States 0.5)

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

New Orleans Police Detective Sam Garrett can’t believe his bad luck when he’s assigned to investigate a string of gay-bashings turned deadly in the French Quarter. Especially when he realizes Travis Boudreaux, his new, hot, and most-likely-straight partner, plans to use him as bait. The worst part? They’ve got no back-up because the rest of the city is preoccupied by another series of killings — the victims drained of blood.

This bestselling M/M Urban Fantasy is the prequel for the book, Deep Blues Goodbye, by Laura Harner and T.A. Webb.

PizzyGirl’s View:

This is how you tease a reader into starting a new series. There was action, and intrigue, and a bit of HOT sex. This short story established a set of characters and a possible series ARC. But most importantly, it introduced a very fascinating new world. For a such a short story, it packed a punch and left me wanting more. I normally HATE abrupt/to-be-continued type endings, but this one was teasing and shocking enough that I can put aside my dislike and want more right now! Good thing the next book has already been published.
