Corey Jones has always maintained he didn’t want a mate. After falling for his college professor and having his heart broken, he vowed to never go there again. Now, his decision to remain single is put to the test when he meets his Alpha’s new personal assistant, Ethan Davies, and discovers the man is his mate.
After growing up in the foster care system all Ethan ever wanted was a home and someone to love him. He’s overjoyed that his recent move has brought him to his mate. Ethan’s happiness soon turns to devastation when Corey walks away from him and their bond.
Ethan is forced to walk a fine line between respecting his mate’s wishes and refusing to give up on the one thing he’s wanted his entire life. With Ethan’s determination, an interfering brother, and pack members too interested in his personal life, Corey may not stand a chance.
Please Note: Corey has been re-edited, and expanded, by ~13 K.
I was very excited when this book was re-released as I simply adore this author. That being said I thought this was a very sweet and romantic love story. Ethan a very sexy yet lonely shifter comes to town with the intention of only staying a year or two. That is until he meets the one person he never thought in a million years he would meet, his gorgeous yet very reluctant mate Corey. Corey is a shifter with his problems having fallen in love before only to have his heart shattered into a million pieces when his lover cheats on him. The story overall was very well written, and I for one loved it. The only thing I would have liked to have seen more depth with was Corey’s past relationship. I just felt as though there wasn’t enough meat to this part of the story to have Corey swear off love forever. I was also confused over the whole shifters mate for life mentality. I mean the author says over and over at the beginning of the book that Corey’s wolf not only knew this man was not Corey’s mate but his wolf didn’t even like him, so why did he stay with him? So in the end, if you are anything like myself and you are a huge fan of the Toni Griffin books The Holland Brothers and The Atherton Pack, then this is a book (a tiny bit of confusion aside) that you will like just as much as I did. A definite must read!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
