Why I Read M/M:

The answer to why I read M/M is a simple one…because it’s there. Even before I discovered this genre existed I read a ton of books but there was always something missing. The frequent male/female romantic pairing never struck a chord with me, and the occasional gay characters were a breath of fresh air. I never felt one hundred percent connected to the hetero male action hero/detective/cop/whatever.

That all changed when I learned about this marvelous genre. For the first time I had characters that I shared something with. Even if they were an FBI agent, they’d gone through the same sexual denial as I had. There were similarities allowing me to relate to these guys and thus get into the plot even more.

The M/M genre changed my reading life in every possible way and I couldn’t be happier.

  1. I feel the same way as this: “…the occasional gay characters were a breath of fresh air.” Both books and movies – so happy we have such a diversified genre of books to read now. Thanks for the post!

  2. I was burned out on het romance and felt like I’d “read it all” until I found m/m. I’m really enjoying m/m, and I’ve been reading it for about 8 years or so.

  3. I feel the same way. I read all kinds of books with all kinds themes. I then I found M/M books. I can truly say that the books that I have read have been great. I feel so different when I read them It does not matter if it is a fun or a sad read. They all draw me in and so hard to put down. Its like a drug to me I just can’t get enough. I thank all the writers that have wrote books in this genre. YEA to the M/M books.

  4. Discovering this genre was one of the best things ever. I’m glad I’m able to read all these amzing stories. I still read mf romance, though.

  5. Love is love and 2 guys even better because of how they treat partner I can relate to someone, guy or gal, relating in the same way. I am a gal that just loves guys who love guys. Sometimes it seems more real. Although I love guys M/F, M/M, M/M/F, a girl can jazz it up since not everyone is hetero or gay but bi in that there might be 1 of the same sex they are attracted to but no means gay, they are just not straight because of 1 other. Anyway I adore M/M too.
