It’s a lovely little life Kelly Seaton leads. He’s got his own landscaping business, a nice little house, and his best friend, Cosimo Renaldi, and Coz’s goofball family who have adopted Kelly as their own. Sure, it’s a little lonely at night, but it’s a sweet deal, and Kelly can’t chance ruining it by letting on that he wants more—has always wanted more—with Coz.
Then Kelly’s past comes to town, bringing bad memories and hurt feelings that start to break Kelly down, and Coz just doesn’t understand why Kelly won’t let him be the support and strength that Kelly’s always been for him. They’ve already been through war, Coz’s devastating injury, and starting new careers in Mangrove, Florida. Why shouldn’t they face their chaotic pasts and build their future of quiet nights… together?
This story was all kinds of awesome. I listened to this one on my drive home from work during rush hour and I am sure the people in the cars around me thought I was crazy because I was laughing so much. At one point I was almost in tears! Coz’s mother was priceless!
In addition to the perfectly executed humor, this story was sweet. Kelly and Coz were a perfect reflection of how friends can seamlessly transition to life partners. In fact, they were already partners and were just to blind to see it themselves. This was short and sweet and just wonderful. Their love was so honest and just well done.
I can’t wait for the next story in this series.
Greg Tremblay did a fantastic job on this narration. Any man who can keep a straight tone while delivering Coz’s mother’s lines should be paid extra! I loved listening to his version of this story. I really think the audio format made this one better. I just have one question. Mr. Tremblay, how many iterations did it take before you could read this without laughing?
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
