Hello my lovelies, hope you are all well.

I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet today so want to get your take on said bee…

Re-makes… what do you think? Yay or nay?

There’ve been quite a few that really shouldn’t have been touched with a ten foot pole. For example, Nightmare on Elm Street, Endless Love, Godzilla, Psycho, Arthur and Carrie to name but a few. All classic movies that shouldn’t have even been attempted. And then, and this resonated with me because of my age, I know, but they re-made… I can hardly bare to say it… FOOTLOOSE! What were these people thinking? All of these re-make were complete flops. Of course they were! A classic is a classic for a reason people!

But now we come to the latest round of re-makes, some of which make me want to weep. Are you ready? Okay… takes deep breath… Poltergeist, Star is Born, Point Break, The Crow, An American Werewolf in London, Wargames and, God forbid, The Rocky Horror Picture Show!

No! I say. Step away from the classics. Do not put your grubby little fingers on them! Take two hundred dollars, do not pass go and run away as fast as you can!

I don’t know, maybe I am getting old…. how do you feel about this particular bee?

See you soon, stay well and keep reading! (I feel a bit like Maury Povich!)

  1. LOL! The only time I will ever quote Nancy Reagan – JUST SAY NO! Did I hear that they are going to remake Dirty Dancing? That will never work. Sorry.

  2. Did we run out of imagination? There are few movies that translate will when remade. But on the other hand, a whole new generation is getting to enjoy what we already have.

  3. I’m sorry, but a classic to me is a movie almost older than God, like Ben Hur or Cleopatra. Sure the others are classics too, but only if they’re older than 30 years. I guess they are though aren’t they? Wow, I’m showing my age now, aren’t I?
