Prism Book Alliance® would like to thank T.A. Chase for taking the time to talk with us today about their retro title from Amber Allure (Amber Quill) The Preternaturals Series. Prism Book Alliance® recently reviewed The Preternaturals Series. You can find the review here.
We are here today to talk about your Preters series. What can you tell us about it?
The Preters series is set in a world where shifters, vampires, and other paranormal creatures exist, though they tend to stay hidden from humans for the most part. A group of paranormals are tasked with finding a book that could destroy all paranormals..if it falls into the hands of the wrong bunch of humans.
Tell us more about our Main Characters?
In Allergies, we have Ray and Lou. They meet, but unfortunately Ray is allergic to Lou (because Lou is a wolf shifter) In Nick of Time, we have Nick and Gryphon. Nick appears to be human, but there’s something special about him and Gryphon is a vampire. In Love’s Baggage, Bandit (one of Lou’s brothers) and Allan are both wolf shifters. And in Trailing Air, Rover is a wolf shifter (and Lou’s oldest brother) and Elwin is a dragon shifter. )
What about the Preters series makes you the proudest?
the fact that I constantly got asked when Rover would get his own story. I love when I can write a character everyone falls in love with and wants to know more about.
Would you change the titles of any of the books?
Hmm…to be honest, I wouldn’t want to change the titles. It took me a while to figure out the title that went best with the story I wanted to tell. So each fits.
What was your inspiration for this series, not only the overall series arc, but also the world and characters?
My original idea was what if a man fell in love with a guy he was allergic to. Then I had to figure out why that would happen. Adding shifters and all the other creatures in filled out the world and gave me a chance to do whatever I wanted since shifters don’t really exist. lol The rest of the plot just came as I wrote. I don’t plot things out, so it’s all as much a surprise for me as the readers.
There are a lot of different types of mystical, mythical, preternatural creatures and legends. How did you decide which ones to use in your series and how did you keep track of them all?
lol I didn’t really keep track of them. They kind of just did their own thing and popped in whenever they felt like it. I knew I had to have wolf shifters from the beginning since Ray was allergic to Lou, but the others appeared as I wrote.
Will there be more stories in this series? Like maybe a backtrack to tell of Raze and Ba’el’s unlikely union?
I do plan on writing some other stories and Raze and Ba’el are one of the couples I want to visit again.
Will we be hearing more from this series?
yes…just not sure when I’ll be able to get to them.
Tell us about some of your other titles.
I have an awesome series The Four Horsemen, which is about just what the title suggests. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and how they find love. Also, I have the Dragons series about men and women who have to fight dragons when the creatures suddenly return to earth.
Rapid Fire Time
- Swimming or skiing (variation on the beach/mountains)? Yikes! I’d have to say swimming, though I love the mountains…just not skiing.
- Lucky Charms or Trix? Lucky Charms all the way
- Chinese food or Mexican food? Mexican food because it’s the best way to get sour cream. lol
- Salty or Sugary? Salty
- Spring or Fall? Fall
- Read or writing? Oh…that one’s hard. it depends on my mood.
- Thongs or Flip Flops ? Flip flops (because I’m American…lol)
- DC or Marvel? Marvel.
- Medium rare or well done? Medium
- Pancakes or Waffles? Waffles. all day every day if I could.
What are you working on? What is next?
At the moment, I’m working on a new series about vampires and cowboys. 🙂 What’s coming out next is Cold Truth, the last book in the Delarosa Secrets trilogy. It’s Victor and Beito’s story and I’m hoping readers will love them as much as I do, even if they are bad guys.
Thank you for having me today.

What’s a shapeshifter to do when the man he desperately wants is allergic to him?
Raymond Marvels never imagines his call to the IT department at his graphics design job would result in his meeting Lou Canis, the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen. There’s one small problem, though—Ray is allergic to Lou. Yet his allergy is only one of the weird things going on between them.
Lou, a werewolf, isn’t sure how to fix the situation, because it seems his would-be lover’s allergy is to Lou’s human form and not his canine one. Lou decides to tell Ray his deep dark secret, which has unexpected results when Ray embraces both sides of Lou. Yet after a witch doctor gives Ray some medicine to solve his problem, Ray and Lou discover they must also face a dangerous conspiracy evolving around them…
Nick of Time
Gryphon’s in trouble. Captured and tortured by humans, the ancient vampire is dying. The humans gave him enough blood to continue his torture, but not enough to heal or free himself. He’s on the brink of death when a meal is tossed into his cell.
Nick knows all about the monsters lurking in the dark corners of the world. Unfortunately for him, it’s the human ones who try to kill him. Broken and bloody, he’s thrown into a cell with a vampire. Knowing he’s dying, Nick offers his blood to the vampire, willing to sacrifice himself to save the tormented man.
Gryphon accepts Nick’s offer and the first drink of blood will bind them together through a life-changing adventure. The worlds of human and supernatural collide, catching Nick and Gryphon in the middle…
Things have gotten pretty exciting in Bandit Canis’s world. Non-Preters trying to kill any lycan or Preternatural they can find, and his youngest brother falling in love with a human. Plus finding out there’s a spell in a book that could destroy every Preternatural in the world. Yeah, “exciting” is a pale word for what Bandit’s life has become. Yet instead of searching for the book, Bandit finds himself escorting twin lycans back to their home pack. While he’s not happy about it, at least he gets to spend time with Allen Dow.
Allen is reluctant to return to his home pack to regain control, especially after being sold to a human freak show years ago by his Alpha. He has no choice, though, once he learns how far the pack had fallen in his absence. The only good thing about the entire trip is spending time with Bandit.
As their mission turns deadly, Bandit and Allen cling to each other, their love growing stronger as they both leave the baggage of the past behind them. While their future is unclear in the dangerous world in which they live, they also come to realize that, together, they may be able to weather whatever happens next…
About the Author
I’m T.A. Chase, and I write stories about men loving men, but my stories are more than that. It’s about one person finding the other half of themselves. It doesn’t matter whether that person is male or female. I’m a happily married woman living in the Midwest with my husband of fifteen years. I’ve been writing for six years now, and because of my awesome readers, I’ve been able to do it full time for over a year.
The author is giving away an ebook set of her Preter books to one lucky commenter. Or if you have them already, she will give four books from her backlist that you don’t have. 🙂
I have a number of paperbacks, most of which are signed, to giveaway. Over the between now (11 Mar 2017) and 31 Mar 2017, every comment on the blog (this post and all other new posts), will be entered to win 1 of these paperbacks. There are also some misc swag items, so there will be a few packs of these to give away as well.
Thank you so much for your support over the last 4 years. Prism will be closing its doors on 1 April 2017. All content will remain available, but no new content will appear after 31 Mar 2017. As such all request forms have been turned off. Again Thank you,
