Detective Austin Michaels didn’t think life could get any better after he was accepted into the most notorious narcotics task force on the East Coast, headed up by two of the baddest’ Lieutenants with the Atlanta Police Department – Cashel Godfrey and Leonidis Day.

Michaels knew he would fit right in as the team’s sniper, having received his fair share of commendations for marksmanship. He was just as badass as the rest of the twenty brothers that made up their team. But when Michaels lets their prime suspect get away from a huge bust with over a quarter of a million dollars in drugs, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.

Left with no other options, God chooses to bring in outside help, calling on his long-time friend and bounty hunter, Judge Josephson.

Judge was considered one of the best trackers during his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring, he used those skills to become one of the most sought out fugitive trackers in the country. When Judge gets a call from his old friend needing his help, he quickly tells God, yes.

Still embarrassed, and intent to prove himself, Michaels immediately volunteers to partner up with Judge to get their suspect back quickly and quietly. Neither man wanted or needed a partner. But, after Judge and Michaels get on the road, the hate/lust relationship they quickly develop between them will either make them heroes… Or get them killed.

My View:

Nothing Special is a series that is growing and becoming better and better.

Austin Michaels is proud to be part of the team set up by God and Day, in fact it’s about the only part of his life that is going to plan at the moment. He takes his career seriously, he takes his team seriously but feeling like the third wheel more often than not he finds himself angry and lonely and avoids socialising with the people that he cares most about. When a bust goes wrong and the suspect flees the scene with a substantial amount of drugs Michaels feels responsible and letting his team down is the last thing he would ever want to do.

With the team running out of options and time God calls in a favour from an old friend. Judge Josephson is a bounty hunter, well respected and one of the best. His one rule is that he doesn’t work with a partner, not after events from years earlier left him destroyed, so when he finds out Michaels is to be paired up with him it doesn’t go down well.

One a loner and one just lonely the tension is thick from the start. Both men have something to prove but with stress and then attraction getting in the way it turns out to be a bumpy ride.

Judge hides behind a carefully constructed set of walls and is a man determined never to offer his heart to another again. The soft and caring man with emotion written all over his face when visiting his dying father is not the man you get on a day to day basis. He is also tough and demanding and needs someone with a backbone who is willing to stand up to him and call him out on his bullshit – he may just have met that man and he is terrified about how this makes him feel.

Chasing down the suspect is almost a side story as these two stubborn men get together. There is a lot of sex…there is a lot of very good sex but that first kiss and how it went down…holy hell!! This pair together are explosive but will it last past their case or are they just letting off steam?

It’s always great to visit with favourite characters when you are so invested in a series and with the way this one ended it was especially true….can’t wait for that storyline!
