Can a lonely, aging farmer and a loveless artist whose creativity has gone missing find happiness on the prairies?

Life would be perfect for fifty-two-year-old farmer Finn Garrity if he just had someone to snuggle with by the fireplace. But single gay men aren’t exactly thick on the ground in Eagle Tree, Alberta.

Successful artist Philip Connaway wonders if his creative dry spell has anything to do with his dried-up love life. When Philip takes his nephew into farm country in search of a snowy owl to photograph, he meets Finn, who offers assistance. Together, they find the elusive bird—and much more.

Despite the attraction between them, differences, misunderstandings, and self-doubt threaten to end Finn and Philip’s romance. For a future together, Finn must take a risk, and Philip must find a way to bring love to Finn’s fallow heart.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2015 Daily Dose package “Never Too Late.”

My View:

Country meets City in this short story about Finn and Philip.

There is nothing that Finn likes more than feeling the sense of peace when he looks out over the beauty of his land. He’s lived in other places, he’s worked other jobs but when he is at home on the farm he works so hard at to make a success, he is where he knows he should be. This quiet lifestyle isn’t for everyone and when his last lover left to return to the city Finn all but gave up on finding anyone to spend his life.

Finn is lonely.

Philip is taking a break from life and the city with his young nephew when they meet Finn and strike up a friendship whilst looking for an elusive owl. After spending just a few hours together Philip finds it difficult to forget the rugged and handsome farmer when he returns home and invites him to an art show he is involved in.

Philip is lonely.

They meet up, its great and the sex is fantastic but Finn suffers from very low self-esteem and can’t begin to imagine what someone like Philip would see in him. Cruel words said at the wrong time see Finn running back to his solitary life but Philip hasn’t finished with the man yet and Finn might not have made quite the escape he thought.

  1. I really like the blurb of this one it’s nice to see some older men in the m/m genre. Thanks for the giveaway chance of winning a copy.

  2. An interesting age! Looking forward to reading a book with truly older characters (not someone who thinks they are old at 32!)
