All Ryan Newell wants to do his prove to his brothers he is just as capable as them of going out on a mission. This time they actually listen, sending him out to rescue three men from a cult that is holding them prisoner. Right from the start things go wrong. One of the prisoners, Zach Landen, manages to break out of his cell and holds him at knife point.

Ryan hates the idea of calling for back up but knows he needs to after he learns Zach is very ill. It’s second nature for Ryan to take care of Zach, but Ryan’s giving nature has gotten him in trouble before. Does he really want to get hurt again?

My View:

I absolutely loved the first book in the Lighthouse Security series so I was looking forward to the second book.
Hostage Love was another enjoyable read though I didn’t love it quite as much as Sudden Love, but that’s only because I loved Xander and Aaron so much it would’ve been hard to top them.
The main characters in this book were Xander’s younger brother Ryan and Zach, a young man who had been held captive with Aaron at the evil cult. Ryan was introduced in the first book where he’d made a mistake that nearly cost Aaron his life. Those actions made Ryan eager to proof himself to his brothers and the rest of the team.
There were some basic plot similarities between the two stories but they were mainly superficial. Just like Sudden Love it’s a case of insta-love though Ryan fights it much harder than Zach.
You may need a strong SOD (Suspension of Disbelief) when Zach goes from weak victim to horny flirt in the blink of an eye. Being rescued by hunky men must be quite the turn on because Zach focused only on Ryan during his recovery. There wasn’t even much worry about the bad guys finding them. His only concern was trying to seduce Ryan, who valiantly resisted despite his own desires.
I absolutely loved Ryan who is sweet and generous and a ginger (my weakness.) Zach is also adorable with his non-stop flirtatious ways and cute possessiveness of Ryan, even before Ryan admits his feelings.
I liked how the traditional body types were switched around this time, making the rescuer—Ryan—smaller and Zach the larger man. It made for extremely hot sex scenes.
The banter between Ryan and Zach was absolutely hilarious. I loved the way everything had to be bartered. At one point, before Ryan gives into the attraction, they discuss where Zach is going to sleep and what he’s going to where. It’s a cute bonding moment between the two and really shows off their personalities.
I love seeing Xander and Aaron again, especially Aaron and his habit of blurting out whatever is on his mind regardless of who is around.
Definitely looking forward to the next chapter.
