Alchemy “Al” Jones is an Earth Elemental with an affinity for metals. He uses his covert abilities doing freelance planetary mineral surveys. He’s spent decades as a loner, avoiding planets, Company drones, other Paras, and emotional entanglements. When he’s stranded on a station with a ship that needs more repairs than he has funds to cover, he’s got a decision to make. And then he meets Nick, who turns his world inside out.

Nicholai Royce is an Earth Elemental with an affinity for gems, and he’s on a mission. Paras are a maligned minority, and Nick’s in the sector to look over unclaimed planets that could be suitable for a Para home world. But he’s got a problem—his ship barely reached the station, and he doesn’t have the cash to get it out of dry dock. Then he meets Al, who is absolutely not the kind of person Nick should be falling for. On the other hand, Al’s scheme could get them back into space—or could get them killed.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2015 Daily Dose package “Never Too Late.”

My View:

This world was fascinating and fantastically displayed. I love the concept of elemental paranormals and this science fiction setting. It was vivid and fun. Alchemy and Nick were interesting characters with unique abilities. They fell in together out of necessity but remained together due to their bond.

I have to admit, I was confused for a little while as the attraction between these men seemed to appear out of nowhere and move at light speed towards love. I thought for sure this was going to be one of those instant love stories that left me feeling cheated. But then the author slapped me upside the head for assuming things and showed me how wrong I truly was when she explained their connection and why it was so fast. It all came together to make for a very great start to what promises to be an interesting relationship. I would love to read more about this amazingly crafted world and these two quirky men.

  1. I enjoy paranormal stories and I wonder what the twist is on the insta love the reviewer was first concerned about, opposing elements attract perhaps? 🙂

  2. I love the sounds of this story. I haven’t read too many books with elementals and think this would be a great story to start with. Thank you for the chance to win a copy and for the review.

  3. I’m very intrigued by this story, it sounds like the kind of fantasy I would really enjoy. Thank you for the giveaway.

  4. The Elemental aspect caught my interest immediately since I’m a paranormal fan. Sounds like a really good read.
