Blurb:

Approaching fifty, Graham is tired of the gay club scene. He dreams of a venue where he won’t be judged on his age and looks. He and his friend Mike decide to fill the gap in the market by opening the Midnight Lounge, a gay-friendly piano bar in the heart of London’s Soho. After several unsuccessful auditions, Graham finds the perfect pianist for the bar. Adam Turner is young, handsome, and talented, and there’s a spark of attraction between him and Graham, but Graham’s split with his ex has left him feeling old and unattractive. He believes Adam is just stringing him along—a belief that seems validated when Adam kisses him, then claims he’s made a big mistake. Adam wants Graham, but first he’ll have to prove to Graham that age is no barrier to finding love.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2015 Daily Dose package “Never Too Late.”

My View:

Piano Man is about a middle-aged man starting over in his professional and personal life.
Graham and his best friend are tired of their jobs and of going to noisy night clubs for an evening out. Their solution? Create the kind of bar they’d like to hang out in. In the process of opening a piano bar they have to interview pianists and Graham hires Adam, who also catches his eye.
The will-they-or-won’t-they aspect of the plot was interesting and resulted in a sexy kiss. However, Adam then runs and avoids Graham. Graham’s emotions during the ordeal were realistic and I truly felt what he was going through.
Graham and Adam, of course, end up together and I loved the intense and erotic sex scene when they did.
I liked all the main and supporting characters in this well-written and engaging short. The characters personalities were vivid and never changed. An excellent little tale, here.
4 stars.

  1. The blurb sounds good. I love stories with an age gap and Piano Man fits that perfectly. Thanks for the (re)view and this post. Also thanks for the giveaway.
