Title: Silver Scars
Author: Posy Roberts
Publisher: Labryinth Bound Press
Cover Artist: Natasha Snow
Genre: Contemporary, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, Romance
A bomb destroyed high-powered lawyer Gil Lemieux’s seemingly perfect life, and PTSD has ruled every decision since the explosion that left him scarred inside and outside. Moving home with his mom is meant to be a temporary measure, just like proofreading for a medical institution is only meant to be a stopgap. But two years after taking on the wrong court case, he’s still living in fear.
Keith Kramer might be based 1,500 miles away from Gil, but their shared work brings them together—a chance meeting that’s life-changing. Gil is drawn to Keith’s good looks and intelligence, but it’s his innate understanding that Gil is more than the scars on his skin that is truly attractive. He’s everything Gil used to be and more. It blows Gil’s mind that his attraction might be returned.
Only doubt could widen the distance between them. Keith’s hopefulness, borne out of surviving some tough challenges of his own, isn’t enough to bridge the distance alone. Gil will need to believe he has as much to offer as Keith if they’re to build a life together.
Thanks for hosting me today! I have a special new outtake from Silver Scars to share. Gil got chatty and wanted to share some of the thoughts he had as he drove up to Sedona, AZ for his therapeutic vacation. I hope you enjoy!
Sedona seems like the perfect place to get away to deal with the remaining dregs of my anxiety and PTSD symptoms. I say dregs like I’m nearly over those issues, when that’s far from the truth.
But I’m trying. I’m trying very hard to shake the fears loose, but whenever I’m without a safety net of some sort, I freak out. Hence my trip to Sedona.
The only thing I’ve arranged before I leave Phoenix is my hotel room. I have a few ideas of what I’d like to do while up there, but I didn’t call ahead or make reservations. Instead, I’m going to have to talk to strangers to get directions and recommendations. I’m going to eat alone where people may initially stare at me with pity because of the empty chairs at my table, but I know they’ll keep on looking when they see the horribly mended skin on my head and face.
I’m going to have to keep on eating and doing my best to enjoy my time no matter what.
The massage is going to be the hardest for me. Not only is a person going to see my scars up close and personal, they’re going to be able to feel them, study them while I close my eyes and try to relax. Touch has been a bad thing since the explosion, but I don’t want it to be anymore.
It was good for the first time when I was with Keith. Man! He touched me in ways that lit me up inside. I’d been numb and cold for so long, but somehow Keith found an ember still burning. He stoked it. He’s been stoking it for a few months now with his dirty talk and his sweet smiles.
He has so much faith in me. He makes me want to be the man I used to be, or even better. Yeah, better. I want to be Gilbert Lemieux, new and improved, and I have to take this trip all on my own to find out who the new Gil is going to be.
I’ll find him amidst the red rocks.
