Rhys Ford on Murder and Mayhem ~ Blog Tour, Guest Blog, Local Giveaway

Prism Book Alliance® would like to thank Rhys Ford for stopping by today.

Title: Murder and Mayhem

Author: Rhys Ford

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press

Cover Artist: Reece Notley

Genre: Contemporary, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, Mystery

Dead women tell no tales.

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens stole many a priceless thing in the past, but he’s never been accused of taking a life—until now. It was one thing to find a former associate inside Potter’s Field, his pop culture memorabilia shop, but quite another to stumble across her dead body.

Detective Dante Montoya thought he’d never see Rook Stevens again—not after his former partner falsified evidence to entrap the jewelry thief and Stevens walked off scot-free. So when he tackled a fleeing murder suspect, Dante was shocked to discover the blood-covered man was none other than the thief he’d fought to put in prison and who still makes his blood sing.

Rook is determined to shake loose the murder charge against him, even if it means putting distance between him and the rugged Cuban-Mexican detective who brought him down. If one dead con artist wasn’t bad enough, others soon follow, and as the bodies pile up around Rook’s feet, he’s forced to reach out to the last man he’d expect to believe in his innocence—and the only man who’s ever gotten under Rook’s skin.

A funny thing happened on the way to the murder scene… I needed victims.

Now skip this part if you’ve heard it before but see, it’s hard to be a serial killer without victims. And if there’s one thing I do like writing, it is murder.

For the introduction of Rook and Dante in Murder and Mayhem, I wanted to do something different so I reached out to my fellow authors and ask; Can I murder you?

Everyone I reached out to said yes. Some were reluctant, some were enthusiastic but mostly there was a tingle of impending doom because really, nothing says I love you like a particularly well planned murder—especially if it’s yours.

The authors I’m killing off on this tour are some of my favourites. I could kill everyone I like. Sadly, I wouldn’t have enough time and I do have to move on to other murders, other books. But I’ve gathered a few… and best of all, like in some of the better mysteries in life, there is a plot twist.

To launch the Murder and Mayhem series, I will be giving away books written by my victims as well as a $20 USD gift certificate to the eTailer of the winner’s choice.

Catch each authors’ death on the tour and be sure to enter to win! And thank you all very much.

Mercy Celeste — Light From The Dark,  Shift in Time
I fricking love Mercy’s writing. And I adore her as well. I love how she’s all in where the story is concerned. Just all the fuck in. It’s like skydiving into a volcano and knowing…hoping… you’re going to be okay. And you will be, but damn, it’s going to be hot going in.

Venona Keyes — The Trust, Coming of Age
Venona is like my sister squirrel. Luckily, there’s a hell of a lot more focus in her writing than when the two of us are together and on coffee. She writes like she talks, jabbing in and swooping then flying out into a glorious swoop of language. Absolutely gorgeous.

  1. Books written by victims could be very valuable. I love works by this author.

  2. A day for death by animals! I hope neither Venona or Mercy suffered too much!!

  3. Oh no, Mercy finally met her end. And Venona as well, though maybe the hawk only took her to the nest to entertain the young ones. 🙂

  4. this is probably the most unique book tour i’ve seen. kill your darlings indeed 😉 alsoooo i loved Rook & Dante so much. need mooore ;D

  5. Absolutely adore Rookie and Dante. Sped through the book in like a day. And it’s a shame about the authors deaths, I like them both.

  6. The animals are wreaking havoc today! Thanks for two more excellent cartoons/deaths.

  7. You’ve been got at last Mercy!
I’m loving Rook and Dante, but Dante’s uncle Manny is looking like a fabulous character.

  8. It took me the first couple blog posts to realize the people Rhys are killing are not necessarily the people who own and facilitate the blogs. It pretty much hit me when she killed off Mary Calmes (whose blog I also follow), and I found myself thinking, “This isn’t Mary’s blog!”

  9. Done in by a croc. I don’t know if that is worse than having your brain sucked out by a squid. Both are gruesome I wonder who is last on your list. Hmmmm

  10. There are some bad ways to die on this tour. I feel for Mercy…crocodile is not the way I’d want to go.

  11. Such violent animals. I’m enjoying the blogs, poor authors though. The little cartoons are adorable. I can’t wait to get a hold of this book.

  12. I’m still trying to find time to read. Probably need to call in sick so I can finish it, but I love it so far. 🙂

  13. All of Rhys Ford’s characters make you feel so many emotions, sometimes several different ones at a time. Sometimes you want to scream at them, and sometimes you just want to hug them. With Rook, you mostly just want to hug him! But I did some screaming too.

  14. Love the unique deaths, so good Rhys. Murder and Mayhem is a tremendous read, great start to a new series, can’t wait for more Rook and Dante.

  15. Oh no, who let the crocodiles into Mercy’s swimming pool? In Australia residents of a local swimming pool found their early morning laps interrupted by hundreds of baby (12 inches/30cms) crocs jumping into their pool, I wonder if this was a trial run for our author serial killer? 🙂

Before you wonder about the hawk being able to carry poor Verona away, there is the Red-tailed Hawk with a wing span of near 5ft and if she was to go near accidentally near a nesting pair then who knows what a hawk would do with all those little mouths to feed?

Thank you for another fun stop (and for ways for me think of how the serial killer committed the authors demises) in your blog tour and a chance to win some books (yay)
