Aaron is hiding something in his drawers—but that’s not his only secret.
When he moves in with his new housemates, Aaron intends to tell them about his sexuality from the outset. But a large pink item of a personal nature, given as a joke, scuppers his plans and he misses his chance.
Fellow housemate Rob is out and proud. He guesses Aaron is gay, and when he finds Aaron’s other secret concealed in his sock drawer, he takes it upon himself to help Aaron out with a little sexual experimentation.
This was not a romance. It was a cute short story about Aaron, a young man struggling with telling others about his sexuality. Since he was too shy to tell others about himself, he was also struggling to learn what it meant to be gay sexually.
I enjoyed Aaron’s journey. I could feel Aaron’s fears and uncertainties. I could feel his attraction to Rob. I could feel Rob reciprocate. But I really enjoyed seeing Aaron start to come out of his shell. I liked the way Rob was gentle with him, yet pushed him enough for things to often be embarrassing and uncomfortable. But through that attraction and uncomfortableness, Aaron started to open up and learn. The sexual tension between these men was portrayed well and had an organic feel to it. I would love to see more from these men as Rob helps Aaron explore his sexuality. There is all kinds of promise here and I want to witness the path these men take. This short story was a promising start to something that could be fantastic or could be a stepping stone. So many possibilities.
