Ric Costanza and Connor Ferguson grew up together, friends all the way through high school – until Ric pushed Connor away when they were both sixteen. Self-preservation is a very strong force indeed.
Connor had his own theory as to why it happened…
When they meet up eight years later, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. Ric is about to enter the priesthood and Connor is engaged to Keira. Except all is not as it seems. Ric is a mess, and Connor wants to help.
What starts out as a simple offer to provide a shoulder for a former best friend becomes more than both men bargained for.
The second book in The Lightening Tales is quick, sexy and you will not be able to put it down!
When Ric Costanza comments at the age of 11 that he wants to be a priest his Catholic mother is ecstatic and it’s not something she is ever going to forget. From that moment on his path is laid. By fourteen Ric is confused about his feelings for his best friend Connor and turns his back on their friendship.
By the time we catch up with Ric he is in his twenties, he is still confused by his sexuality and even more confused with the rest of his life. His reluctance to take his vows is becoming obvious and when he bumps into Connor at a wedding, the first time he has seen the other man for years, his confusion increases as he is drawn to the other man.
Connor is bisexual and in an odd relationship with Kiera that thankfully doesn’t last long. He is carrying anger and hurt, albeit deeply buried, about the way his best friend treated him years ago when he was seemingly dumped with no good reason. Those feelings manifest when the two men spend a night together and Ric runs once again the next morning.
For such a short read Ric has a lot of conflict to deal with but deal with it he does and in a way that felt very real, he is a character that was very easy to fall for. Although we don’t get to learn as much about Connor he was definitely Ric’s rock and together they were hot!
A great addition to the series and I am looking forward to the next one.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
