Fragmented (Shadow Mountain #2)
The capture of the Tattoo Murderer has demanded a heavy price. Doctor Tobias Darwin is dead, Lieutenant Hart is back in Riverside licking his substantial wounds, and he needs to gather his courage and tell Isaac he made a mistake. Isaac will forgive him—he knows that—but he can’t promise Isaac an easy life. Being a cop comes with its own risks, after all.
When they finally reach the same wavelength, their idyllic reprieve is cut tragically short. Hart doesn’t know yet that Isaac is terminally ill, that he will take off to find the Phoenix to heal him as a last resort. This time, it will be Hart who pays the price.
In the meantime, a new killer roams the streets of Riverside. He kidnaps, tortures, and kills gay men in horrific ways, and he has the newly healed Isaac in his sights. Hart’s time is running out on every level.
I’m so excited to be here with you today and share my latest release, Fragmented. It’s the second book in the Shadow Mountain series, and it continues where the first book left off. Hart faces a new killer, his relationship with Isaac becomes more meaningful but also a lot more complicated, and Freddie is back too!
I had a lot of fun writing this book, and if I had to chose, I’d say this one is my favorite in the series so far. (Although I’m currently working on book 3, and it’s becoming a serious contender too!)
The paranormal aspect of the book remains fairly in the background, as it did in book 2, but that will all change in book 3. I am also planning a spin-off with Julian and Mauro, which will be seeped in the paranormal a lot more.
Julian has been alive for a long time, and through something that happened to him during his “normal” life, he now has the ability to heal people when they are dying. Sometimes the healing works, and sometimes it doesn’t. Even he isn’t entirely sure how it works, but he does know that every healing comes with a price. He desperately wants to be rid of the “gift” so he can live out a normal life with his lover Mauro. His book will begin when he meets Mauro, the point when everything changes.
So, instead of giving you an excerpt of Fated, or Fragmented, I thought it might be fun to add a little scene from Julian and Mauro’s story. (This is a work in progress and has been unedited!)
