After Conquest’s long tour, singer Jesse Alexander is ready to head home with his partner, Evan Arden. When Conquest hits the studio again, Jesse finds competition from two new bands and tensions reach a breaking point. Facing challenges unlike any he’s ever known, Jesse must somehow duplicate Conquest’s success and reach his ultimate goal: showing NO FEAR and announcing his love of Evan publicly.

Caroline’s View:

The second book in the Conquest series picks up from where book one finished and again concentrates on Jesse and Evan.

Jesse has grown up a lot in the last few months and is much more confident that he can have his career and the man he loves. He is determined to give neither up. Evan is still guarded and aloof around most people but almost all his walls are down with Jesse. He is protective and obsessive and loves the man more than life. The longer they are together and the more they fall in love the harder it is to hide their relationship and the less they are bothered.

There are challenges for both men in this book. A new band hits their recording studios which causes dangerous problems and sees Jesse end up in hospital. A veteran band also arrives to record at the studio and Jesse is faced with someone from Evan’s past who seems determined to cause trouble at every turn.

I really disliked the drummer Trish in the first book and in this book she really shows her true and crazy colours. With her gone Brad joins Conquest and I’m quite sure we will be reading his story in the future.

The very best thing about this book was that Evan and Jesse’s love becomes too big to be hidden and despite the warnings and the problems it could cause the men stand firm and strong. Evan and Jesse are certainly two of my favourite characters ever and deserve the ending that they get!

  1. I was very happy that Jesse and Evan were able to come out to the world. Would love, now that the U.S. has marriage equality, for them to be married in Chicago. Just a short story Shannon, that’s all….really.
