To blog or not to blog… ~ Outside the Margins with Lisa Worrall

A blog post should be the easiest thing in the world to write… right?

I mean, it’s only, what, 300 words long, doesn’t have to be particularly insightful… wrong! Only someone who doesn’t wrack their brains trying to keep a blog fresh and interesting would think that. Which is probably half my non-writer friends. I recently had to write eight posts for my book tour and was desperately banging my head on the desk hoping the constant knocking of my noggin would shake an idea loose. I bemoaned the fact to my friend, who replied, “Can’t you just write one and use it for all of them?” Um… no, lol.

As I was searching for ideas, I thought I’d tap up my good friend Google to see what he had to say about the matter. There were more than a few obtuse answers that were of absolutely no use whatsoever but then I spied a title that said 365 blog ideas for authors and writers. Holy moley! Birds flew over head, angels sang and hunky cabana boys appeared with ice cold magaritas. I opened the link and was directed to the blog of the lovely Darla G Denton (http://darlagdenton.com/2014/08/18/365-blog-post-ideas-for-authors-and-writers/). I must state that I officially love Darla – she is my new hero.

As I read through the list I banged my head on the desk for a completely different reason. Some of her wonderful ideas were so simple I was embarrassed I’d not thought of them myself! And I used more than one of her ideas to get me through my book tour I can tell you. I’m sure she won’t mind me sharing her list with you as we all need a helping hand on the blog side every now and then. I know I will be sending her a virtual hug every time I get stuck and scroll through her suggestions looking for inspiration. I hope you find some too!

Until next time! Stay safe and keep reading!
