Beckett works at a coffee shop to make ends meet while attending a prestigious university. It’s not the most exciting job, but he’s done it long enough he’s good at it—and can avoid the tedium by spinning sexy little daydreams of things he doubts will ever happen.
Daydreams that soon include Simon, the hot, handsome, and older freelance writer who stops in one day. But then Simon becomes a regular, a bright spot more interesting than the inside of Beckett’s head, and daydreams start to seem like they could be something far more tangible—if reality doesn’t get in the way first.
Blog Tour + Giveaways! Author Guest Post: On Location
Thank you for hosting me today on Prism Book Alliance! I am truly honored to be here! I’m excited to talk to you about some of the inspiration that went into writing my debut novelette, “Percolation, Poetry, and Passion”. It’s a contemporary gay romance featuring a May/December relationship spanning from the San Francisco Bay Area to New Orleans, Louisiana.
One special place I’d like to share with you first is both in the story, and on the cover: the Bay Bridge. It crosses from Oakland to San Francisco, and I describe its art installation, The Bay Lights, within the story. But, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, or in this case, a short video. I hope you find it as beautiful as Simon, Beckett, and I do.
Also central to the story is the coffee shop where main character, Beckett, baristas. When I envisioned The Percolation Station, I had a clear picture of a quirky, industrial-style space with an arty edge firm in my mind. However, when I write, I also like to have tangible examples to refer to—I think it helps keeps the feel of a story grounded and genuine.
My search for the “real” Perc’ was a lot harder than I thought it’d be. Most places were too bright or too airy or too commercial feeling. Nothing was right. I searched for way more time than I probably should have for just the right eclectic mix, and I finally found it at The Coffee Academics —all the way in Hong Kong. It’s a beautiful shop, and I hope you enjoy imagining the romance between Simon and Beckett percolating there as much as I have. <3
I am offering TWO giveaways to you beautiful Prism readers! One local Rafflecopter for a FREE copy of “Percolation, Poetry, and Passion” or if you own it, ANY Less Than Three Press e-title of equal or lesser value!
The second contest is a Tour-Wide Grand Prize for a FREE ebook AND a New Orleans authentic Café Du Monde Gift Basket! Don’t forget to enter both, and good luck!
