With Tyler ready to move on, Drake’s run out of second chances.
Tyler Bryant and Drake Sutton met one day on the beach in Oahu and never parted—until Drake was offered the movie role of a lifetime and abandoned Ty to pursue fame and fortune. Tyler has moved on to another beach in another country, but he’s left his heart behind. And yet, every time Drake shows up he can’t help but let him back into his life. When he gets a familiar phone call, Tyler vows this is it, one last hook-up to provide a lifetime’s worth of memories.
Drake Sutton is tired of living a lie when it means not having the love of his life by his side. This booty call is going to be his last—because he’s determined to get Tyler back for good. But Drake’s going to have to go way off-script to make Ty believe.
Jenna Kendrick on Make Me Believe
Hi, everyone! Make Me Believe is my first published work of fiction, and it came about because of a challenge by Cherie Noel. I was in the middle of writing a full-length novel when Cherie announced her daughter was raising funds to spend part of her summer in the Galapagos Islands studying conservation and sustainable ecotourism. Cherie encouraged her friends to come up with story ideas relating to conservation or in exotic locales, and a plot bunny was born and grew into Make Me Believe, a short story set in El Hawaii, Guatemala, with a hero who rescues sea turtles.
Tyler & Drake’s story is about second chances. Drake put fame and fortune ahead of his relationship with Ty, and now wants to get him back. But Ty’s finally ready to move on and has already decided that Drake’s visit is going to be the last. Drake needs to prove he’s in it for the long haul this time, and they need to clear the air about the choices they made in the past.
When choosing a setting for my guys’ second chance, I liked the idea of them reconnecting in someplace that was the same, but different, much like they are now still the same people, but changed in many ways. When I read about El Hawaii, I knew I’d found just what I was looking for. Much like some of the beaches in Oahu, Hawaii, this area of Guatemala is known for its ecotourism, particularly sea turtle rescue.
Oh, and for those of you who read the book and wonder what Ty had been drinking the night before the story begins, Quetzalteca Rosa de Jamaica is a pink moonshine-like drink. It’s very strong, very sweet, and packs a big wallop!
Make Me Believe is the first in the Hawaiian Haven series. You’ll be able to read more about Drake & Ty in Beyond Belief, coming this winter.
