Sascha’s world changed when Cashiel Michaud bought him, rescuing him from a brothel and a life of torture. They developed a sexual relationship, but can their relationship amount to more than that? Deceit, lies, and political scandal color not only their world, but their relationship, and dark figures from both men’s pasts threaten to intrude on the few moments of peace they have. A slave is never safe from harm, nor is an outcast family member. In the end, are Sascha and Cash strong enough to face the challenges, or will they be torn apart forever? (M/M – See publisher’s page for content labels.)
If you open Sedition in the hope that Sascha is going to have an easier time than he did in Demoted you should probably just close it again and walk away. Although some things in Sascha’s life are set to improve it is balanced against horrors he must still live through.
Cashiel and Sascha are still working on improving the life of the Demoted citizens by changing the training system but it requires smarts and secrecy to go up against Cash’s mother.
This book had me on the edge of my proverbial chair the entire way through. A bit slow to begin with it soon picks up and you can’t help championing both men as they try to form a relationship in very difficult circumstances. It’s a tense story and even when things are going well you can’t relax as you know things are going to change and not for the better.
After putting himself in the position he finds himself in to protect his brother there should be elation when his family finally find him and it looks as though they want to make things better but Abriel is weak and instead of saving his brother he pits him against yet another enemy, the results of which will come back to haunt him.
The story now has two evil woman and I hope the author has some sort of karma planned for book 3.
After all the savagery and beatings that Sascha lived through in the first book it was difficult to watch him live through even more especially when he volunteered for some of it to clinch their business deal. Torenze is vicious and although he is the best man out there to help Cash go up against his mother his price is high and both men end up paying.
Towards the end of the book Alicia Cameron cleverly lulls you into a false sense of hope…again! It actually looks like all their hard work, risks taken and savagery endured is going to pay off. By 95% my stomach was turning at the realisation that in the next few pages it was all going to go to shit and boy oh boy did it end with a bang.
There really isn’t anything more I can say except when the hell is Book 3 coming!!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
