There’s something unsettling in having to tell a one-night stand that you’re pregnant with his child. When you yourself are a man, it gets…let’s call it complicated.
Ben’s Wolf Surprise is a cute, sweet story that ultimately felt too short for me.
Shad and Ben have an ultra-hot encounter at Shad’s place, but when Shad wakes up Ben is gone. He’s distraught because Ben was his mate and he can’t live without him.
Ben doesn’t exactly have it easy after the hook-up because he’s extremely sick and can’t figure out why. Of course he doesn’t know that he just had unprotected sex with a shifter, or what the consequences could be of doing so.
This wasn’t a story to come in and expect any kind of realism, but that didn’t diminish the enjoyment. It was mainly played for laughs, especially with Ben suffering morning sickness. I also absolutely loved it when Ben pissed on a pregnancy test to confirm he was expecting.
This was well-written but I really wished I could’ve seen more of the couple together. As it was it was just a glance at their cuteness. It really wasn’t long enough to see if they could face true adversity or to get a feel for the author’s writing style.
One of my complaints is the use of word shift as a synonym for the word move. There were 27 occurrences of the word shift and at least twenty were used instead of move. In a shifter book it tended to be confusing because I had to stop and make sure it didn’t mean a character was transforming.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
