Dylan Roberts returns to the Wales of his birth a changed man after the violent death of his mate. Having turned his back on being a bounty hunter and sworn off love for life, all he wants now is revenge.
When he meets Aeron Lombardo, his new farmhand, Dylan resents the intense attraction that blossoms between them. But Aeron won’t stop pushing and soon things take a hot and sexy turn.
As passions rise, danger rears its ugly head. Now Dylan and Aeron must choose whether to separate or commit to one another totally. Will Dylan take the final step and claim his new mate?
Book 2 in the Wild Hunters series was much different than the first in several ways. This book was much slower paced at first and there was more focus on the two men getting to know one another before mating.
Also, this book was focus on healing and learning to love again so Dylan was a much richer character than the men and women in book 1. There was less time spent on world building and establishing rules and more time spent on character growth and development. I think book 2 was much more cohesive and fulfilling. I connected to these characters more easily and was much more interested in their outcome from a personal development standpoint rather than just for sexual gratification. I was more interested in the love story than I was in anything else.
This story gripped me and pulled me in. I was so interested in learning about Dylan even when he did piss me off for listening to his head and not his heart. Dylan was a darker character and his emotional strain was well represented. Aeron was a great match for him. A bit submissive but in a way that pushed Dylan to be his best. They were great partners.
I also loved the action at the end. I do wish the fighting would have lasted longer and the vampires would have been explored more. However, at the same time I realize that the vampires were simply tools to move the romance and the mating forward and help set everything up for the next book.
I was so glad to see the characters from book 1 and am looking forward to seeing more of everyone in the next book. I am really hoping for Hawk’s story next!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
