On the frontier planet No Man’s Land, Sheriff Charlie Colcord upholds the law and protects the people of Deadwood Gulch. His job is difficult and often dangerous due to the vicious native creatures which inhabit the plains and mountains of Noman, but Charlie and his riders have one advantage: dragons.
But the dragons come with their own difficulties in the way of a secret known only to a few. Charlie is a man used to keeping secrets, and it’s not the dragons’ secret that keeps him up at night. His secret is known to only one other, and keeping it makes their lives complicated enough that hunting monsters on the plains of Noman is almost relaxing.
Dragons! Need I say more? Seriously, there are dragons! Okay, so I might have a wee bit of a thing for dragons. Especially bad ass dragons who are more protective of their riders than they are of their own lives.
In the Hours of Darkness is only a start of what promises to be an intriguing story set on No Man’s Land. In this installment, Tygati lays the groundwork for a rich world with lovable characters, compelling villains, and engaging storylines.
We meet Charlie and his Zorevan as they work together to defend their little city from the dangers the world outside of the walls pose. We get a glimpse into some of the other townspeople, and we see there is so much more to Zorevan than first glance. While I didn’t end the story completely understanding the world Tygati has created, I am satisfied by the story told in Darkness. I know that this taste of the world won’t be enough.
Tygati is a new author for me, but I will certainly be continuing their No Man’s Land series as new installments are published.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
