The week before an important philosophy conference, Kenneth is struggling to finish both the last chapter of his book and the paper he’s writing for the event. His efforts are thwarted by a leaky faucet—and his life as a whole is turned upside down by the plumber who shows up to fix it.
I am at a loss as to what to say about Plato for Plumbers. In one sense, it is quite cerebral. In another, it is a mediocre love story between two very different men. I am all for opposites attracting, but I never felt a connection between these two men.
For me, too much time was spent on the Plato and other philosophical theories and name dropping and not enough making me like the main characters. I found Kenneth pretentious and annoying. I did like Mark well enough, but I didn’t like him for Kenneth… or I should say that I didn’t like Kenneth for him.
Plato for Plumbers is well written; I just never connected to the story or the characters. However, if philosophy is your thing, you might enjoy it a lot more than I did.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
