Title: Battle Stations (Alliances #2)
Author: Chris T Kat
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Cover Artist: Anne Cain
Genre: M/M Romance, Science Fiction
Alliances: Book Two
The fight to eradicate the Tash’Ba breeding stations continues, with spunky Commander Berit Turner and his Nadisc mate, Tom, in the thick of things. Sometimes it seems as though they’ll never locate and destroy them all. And there’s always the fear that the Tash’Ba have something else, something worse—if that’s even possible—lurking ahead.
As if things aren’t bad enough, Berit’s less than stellar past is threatening to bite him in the ass, and they’ve received alarming new information. The Tash’Ba queen needs to use Earth as a place to hatch the egg of her successor. And if what she says is true, the new queen will be even more voracious and cruel than her predecessor.
Berit, along with his team—Tom, Carson, Niyara, and Fleur—must do everything in their power to stop her. If they fail, Earth will be lost forever.
Thanks so much for having me on the Prism Book Alliance blog. I’m excited to share an excerpt from Battle Stations, the second book in my science fiction series Alliances, with you and your readers.
Ten favorite characters from your books
Now that is a lovely topic for a writer. I guess we all could talk about our characters until we’ve put everyone around us to sleep. 😉
So, here are my ten favorite characters from my books (not in any kind of order):
Berit from Breeding Stations and Battle Stations:
That guy! Out of the blue, he came and demanded my full attention. He didn’t take no for an answer, and he kept chattering and nattering at me until I caved, even though I’d never written a sci-fi story before and wasn’t sure I could do it. As demanding as he was / is, I fell in love with him right away. There’s so much more to Berit than meets the eye, and with Tom he found his perfect match.
Fleur from Breeding Stations and Battle Stations:
Fleur is a fluffy creature that shows up in the last third of Breeding Stations for the first time. I hadn’t planned for her to show up at all, but all of a sudden there she was, and everything else clicked perfectly into place. She’s fiercely protective of Berit, and possesses some talents that come in handy when they fight the Tash’Ba war beasts.
Rene from Breeding Stations and Battle Stations:
Rene’s role is just a small one, but he has to go through so much in such a short period of time that I just wanted to hug him and make everything better.
Riley from Silver Lining:
Silver Lining is a Bittersweet Dreams title, which means there’s no HEA or HFN. This story was the most emotionally draining story I’ve ever written, and I don’t plan on repeating this. Still, Riley is one of my all-time favorite characters for all the things he has to go through and the way he remains strong.
Joshua from Despite the Odds:
I wanted to write about a character who has cerebral palsy for a very long time. Joshua was easy to write, as he’s a down-to-earth man with a great sense of humor. He’s well aware of his limitations, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying his life and doing what he loves.
Kit from Seizing It:
Kit was my first original character. Although he’s bratty and snarky, he’s also very vulnerable. It’s a combination I love to write. Of course, the best thing was to see Kit open up to Dale, to let him in to help.
Andrew from A Purrfect Match:
I had a total blast writing A Purrfect Match. Andrew had to uproot his entire household and keep everything together, even though he was clearly overtaxed. He still ploughed on and showed an inner strength I admire. With Jim, he got exactly the man he needed, who was able to shoulder some of Andrew’s burdens.
Patrick from Bratty Angel:
Bratty Angel is only a short story, but definitely one of my favorites. Patrick isn’t who he seems, and he doesn’t deal well with the knowledge of the loss of all the talents he once possessed. He’s still devastated about something that happened a long time ago and can’t resist a bratty angel who suddenly stands in his way and demands his attention.
Alex from the Jeff Woods Mystery series:
Alex is the young man Jeff Woods falls in love with. He’s the most unlikely love interest for Jeff, but there’s something that draws him to the younger man. Alex is the caretaker of his younger, disabled brother Sean, and even though he struggles to get them through the day sometimes, he loves Sean so much he’d give up anything for him.
Sean from the Jeff Woods Mystery series:
Sean is Alex’s younger, disabled brother. Despite his severe physical limitations, he’s a happy child with great insight into other people. Even though Jeff’s first appearance on their door step shouldn’t endear him to Sean, Sean realizes quickly how much he cares about Alex and vice versa. If there’s something Sean wants, than it is for Alex to be happy.
