Dr. Ward Thrasher is hoping her ex-partner, Dr. Jess Benson, will reconsider their breakup, and so she takes a new job to be closer to her. But Jess makes it clear that she’s moved on and urges Ward to do the same. Helping to mend her heart is feisty new friend, senior citizen Frieda Henderfield, and the beautiful hospital CEO Abby Rosen.
Then Ward discovers fellow physician Edward Hawk has made a hobby of killing his patients, and she sets out to stop him. Before she can, Jess turns up missing, and Ward, Abby, and Frieda must save her from the psychopathic doctor. If Jess survives, will she rekindle the flame with Ward? Or has Ward’s heart already been stolen by Abby?
A Romantic Mystery, Yummy.
Ward thought she had the perfect life with her partner Jess. After the death of Jess’ mother they move to Jess’ home town. The plan is to work in the hospital there for a year before going home to Philly. Things change when Jess breaks up with Ward. Ward then gets a job with an agency that rotates Drs to hospitals on a short term limit. At one of her assignments Ward meets the charming Abby, CEO of the hospital she is working at. Abby asks Ward to sit in on the M & M board. After reviewing several files and doing some digging she finds that patients have been murdered by the fellow Dr who was on the rotation rounds right before her.
I liked this book a lot. It ran the gambit of emotions, heartbreak, sorrow, fear, joy and love. I loved how descriptive the settings were. I felt like I was there with Ward as she went through the story. She became a friend and I was allowed to go on her adventures. I liked watching her grow stronger and move past the pain allowing her to be herself again. She was strong and brave while solving the crimes and even more so when it came to the climax (The other kind but there was plenty of that too, very yummy!) of the book. The tale ran at a good, easy pace and there were no errors I could spot. It was one of those books that it is hard to put down, so I didn’t…. Very, very well done. Thank you Ms Maddox!!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
