This is the second time I am fortunate enough to be able to write a GRL wrap up post. This year the meeting was in my hometown of San Diego, and I really enjoyed not having to worry about how many books I could shove into my carry on bag for the flight home.
The first thing I noticed about this year’s event was how fast it all seemed to fly by, and how many online friends I never got a chance to spend time with at all – that was disappointing! But other than that bit of disappointment I have to say this year’s event was very fun and certainly never dull.
One of my personal highlights was attending a gathering that Jordan L Hawk hosted and Julian Simmons (who narrates the Widdershins books) did a reading for us. I was beside myself listening to him read! One of the other attendees told me after the gathering that she loved watching our faces while he was reading. I have so much respect not only for Jordan’s ability to write kick ass stories, but also to watch her manage herself as an author and a creative marketing force.
As was the case last year our small group of Prism Book Alliance bloggers were there having a great time together. It was a real treat to have Caroline fly all the way from The Isle of Man to San Diego to attend GRL. I will treasure the fun memories we made during the conference.
Besides the fun and educational moments there was plenty of entertainment to be had in the evenings. It was great to meet new friends and be able to reconnect with people I had met last year.
I think that is one of the best parts about GRL. Getting to spend time with authors who are so talented and fun, as well as the readers who are there because they all love what I love. We may be a quirky group, but I think it is very special to be able to connect with people who share my passion for passion. It was a great weekend that flew by way too fast.
Much Love and see you Tomorrow!
