Hi, Nic Starr here. I hope you’ve been following my series of posts on Prism this week. Don’t forget there’s a giveaway so make sure to check out the two previous posts so you can be in the running for a $10 Amazon voucher plus a book from my backlist.
I wanted to tell you a little about my life before writing, or in other words, how I pay the bills. ☺
I spent the last twenty years working at a corporate job. One company for all those years. I think my tenure dates me very well. I’m definitely not Gen Y. ☺ I loved my career—the challenge of the job, the teamwork and camaraderie, the satisfaction of managing a great group of people, and achieving great results. My job was all about planning, structure, data, and robust methodology. But after twenty years, I needed a change. So discovering I loved writing was a refreshing delight. Now I get to balance creative pursuits with heading to an office every now and then. Perfect!
Now one thing that’s a carryover from the corporate career, is my love of tools and structure. This means I plan my stories, I use mind maps, I have spreadsheets to track progress, I use writing software. You get the picture.
One of my stories has a corporate setting. A Day at a Time (http://bit.ly/1Ld2MXT) tells the story of Sean and Dave who meet at work. Sean struggles to leave his past behind him but Dave shows him, the past doesn’t have to dictate his future.
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway. You need to gather the code word from each of the seven posts in my Foster An Author series at Prism. Gather all seven codes words, rearrange them into the correct sentence and email me at email@example.com with your answer. The lucky winner will get an eBook copy of one of my books, plus a $10 Amazon voucher.
Today’s code word is THAN.
Tomorrow I’ll be talking about some of the things I love.
Title: A Day at a Time
Author: Nic Starr
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Cover Artist: Christy Caughie
Genre: Contemporary, M/M Romance
Sean Vargos is quiet, well respected, and dedicated to his job. But Dave Simpson sees Sean as more than a coworker. He’s fought his attraction to Sean for months but can’t get him out of his thoughts.
They tentatively embark on a relationship, but Sean isn’t all that he seems. He struggles to put his past behind him and overcome his fears.
Dave, with his good looks and open nature, accepts that sometimes Sean’s doubts get the better of him and he runs. Dave just wants the chance to show Sean he can be trusted and the past doesn’t have to dictate their future.
About the Author
Nic Starr lives in Australia where she tries to squeeze as much into her busy life as possible. Balancing the demands of a corporate career with raising a family and writing can be challenging but she wouldn’t give it up for the world.
Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told!
When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family-an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters-and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.
You can find Nic on Facebook, Twitter and her blog. She’d love it if you stopped by to say hi.
